Get ready for MAX!

June 27th, 2007 · 21 Comments

*Update* for those of you who are looking for the video of the fights, you can find them here: Buakaw vs. Holzken, Masato vs. JZ Calvan, Andy Souwer vs. Ole Laursen, check back soon… the rest will be added shortly.

Max is tomorrow, I’m going to put up the clips as soon as I can get them. If any of you are taping the event, send me an email (nopstar@mymuaythai.com).

Here is a bad ass HL clip by Shunsuke to get you in the mood. Honestly I shouldn’t even call this a HL, Shunsuke’s got mad editing skills. This promo clip for MAX deserves it’s own post.

As always it’s a huge line up, let’s see your picks. If any of you are predicting upsets I want to here them

    Wow that was dope!!!

So it looks like we’re pretty divided on what’s gonna happen with Kohi v. Amara and Tatsuji vs. Ologun…

I’m saying Kohi by KO and Ologun by Decision.

Also came across this earlier today. Apparently Masato made some comment about how much water JZ was downing and how much he would “actually” way at the time of the fight. Here is a brief exchange JZ and Masato had at the press conference

JZ: “I don’t know who he thinks he is or what people make him to be but he is not a God or a super hero and he is definitely not invincible. He is just an ordinary human being and I will prove to you all how ordinary he is in the ring.”

Masato: “I will suprise you in the ring. Let’s put on a good show for the fans.”

I know we all have our favorites. I’m going for Iron Mike Zambidis. I love his aggression. Good promo clip. 4*s

That video was sick! Man.. damn.. that was one of the best highlight clips I have seen to date. I am also rooting for Nopstar’s lil province brother, the king.

Buakaw all the way…call me a nuthugger if u want…I don’t care. I hope Sato makes it far…I kno Souwer will be in the finals again ( Is it me or does that symbol in the back of his pants ressemble the McDonald Arch??).

  • 7 Spydaman // Jun 27, 2007 at 12:02 pm

PS…..Buakaw…..more kicking and kneeing this time, please.

  • 8 Bunzy // Jun 27, 2007 at 12:31 pm

I think the Buakaw’s best strategy would be the same way he did it in 2006. Knock out the first patient, Dominate the second patient ( save energy ), Then just TKO the last victim. In 2006 he still looked clean. No bruises or anything.

fellas… this is the final eliminations not the finals…

  • 10 Tong Po // Jun 27, 2007 at 1:41 pm

Buk Buk Bukauw will win it all anyway!

When is Yodsanklai going to ever be put into the finals?

  • 11 Slayer // Jun 27, 2007 at 2:05 pm

Ok, how the F can we see this live? Unless I’m reading their site wrong, K-1 is saying they’re going to be broadcasting it on Eurosports “Fight Club” on the 28th. Stupid Comcast doesn’t have Eurosport. Can you get it streaming online, or how would you watch it live on TV?

Now that’s a damn good clip. Mad editing skills for sure.

    Cheer,
    Petteri

    I like Masato.
And yeah, having EVERYONE in JAPAN thinking YOU ARE a superhero is big time MOTIVATION.
Not to mention hes got personal pride…look at him when he fought Buakaw..he took a beating but he didnt quit and he could have and everyone would have been ok with it.
I have met Masato, trained with him and he works hard. Hows that for nut hugging?

But lets face it….Buakaw is the MAN.

  • 14 Mrblackmagic // Jun 28, 2007 at 2:49 am

oh AND….Yodsanklai doesnt get me hot….OM SHING does though.
He is BAD. He fought in the Titans fights…and I havE SEEN him SPARRING with Ruslan Karaev, I dont mean tap tap either..I really mean banging. He has balls of solid rock.
I would LOVE to see him in Max.

  • 15 SpydaMan // Jun 28, 2007 at 6:26 am

Masato is a Samurai in the ring “just not outside”…..Even though his style is not my favorite…he has this warrior blood flowing through his veins and he just keeps coming forward. I especially gained respect for him when he took that ass whooping from Buakaw, he knew he couldn’t win (still can’t) but he kept moving forward and any man should respect that. Yodsanklai will probably never make it to the max, I think that he is very “marketable” but I doubt that Japanese officials are interested in having two thais beating everyone’s ass and battling it out in the finals…lol.

Gentlemen, Its today. I wonder how long after the event will it someone post it. Hopefully by toninght, pacific standard time.

  • 17 Tong Po // Jun 28, 2007 at 8:56 am

Damn it, let’s see this shit now!

  • 18 Spydaman // Jun 28, 2007 at 10:52 am

Yo Nop…or anyone else??….I have a question, Why don’t they televise World Max in the U.S???…I mean, what do they have to lose, even it’s for PPV…Many people would pay for it. WTF, man……I have seen the K1 GP on PPV here……Wutz the freakin’ big deal???World Max has been around since (I think ) 2002, I think something’s going on and I don’t know why, Just like I dunno why they won’t televise “The Muay Thai Contender here”….I mean…wasn’t the Contender an american show to begin with?? The last season had U.S vs U.K (western boxing)……..Why don’t they do a U.S vs Thailand or a Kickboxing (hahahaha) vs Muay Thai ) ?? or Europe Vs U.S ?? Gimme my MUAY THAI, DAMN IT!!!!!!

  • 19 Hannes // Jun 28, 2007 at 12:07 pm

Spydaman: I believe that the McDonalds arch on the back of Souwer’s pants is the Evisu logo, a japanese denim brand. Pretty big here in Sweden, pretty expensive also.

  • 20 Bunzy // Jun 28, 2007 at 12:09 pm

Spydaman, I feel your frustration. Let’s us all go on a strike. Wait,,,,, that wont work, I get weak in the knees when it comes to muay thai. It’ll be like putting a lesbian at a dildo factory.
How will this ever get done?

  • 21 SpydaMan // Jun 29, 2007 at 7:19 am

Hannes…I thought it looked like the Evisu symbol. It’s quite popular out here too..(too expensive though)…besides I was just crakin jokes anyway.

    Bunzy…..Lesbian at a dildo factory……I have to use that one…..hope u didn’t copywright it.
