Full Thai Rules – Slamm 6

Came across this quick documentary put together by the Slamm guys… The clip features 3 Dutch MuayThai legends, Thom Harink, Ramon Dekkers and Ivan Hippolyte.   These guys are essentially responsible for creating the dutch muaythai scene in the late 70’s and early 80’s.  Without them I don’t think MuayThai would have as popular as it has been in Europe, hat off to them.

It was enlightening to hear some of the reason of how k-1 rose to prominence… and yes i agree that the slamm guys are keeping the muaythai in Holland alive.

Anyway enjoy.

This is a great short clip, and excellent internet advertising. I’m stoked about the slamm event! I’m also excited about the streaming internet access!

I think that this video pretty much summarizes what Dutch Muay Thai was/is about. Does anyone know where on the web this event will be streamed, how much and if it’s going to be a mess like the Champions of Champions 2 event in Jamaica???? NJMT # 1…

This is what the Phuck im talking about. Awesome Video Im pumped about Slamm even more then ever. And it further exposed the Japanese promoters and their cheap means of pushing their fighters forward. Full Thai Rules for life.

Okay, I never claimed to be very smart. I’m in the US, in the Central Standard Timezone. If the event shows Nov 29th at 3pm GMT, does that mean Nov 29th at 9am CST? Any help would be appreciated. I’d hate to miss the streaming…

You are 6 hours behind GMT. So yes, 15:00 GMT is 9 AM CST.

Just booked my flights… pretty psyched. I’m going to be going solo, so if any of you fools are running around and want to grab a drink, let me know.

That’s an awesome clip. Really gotta give it up to the Dutch guys for taking on the Thais.

Kinda feel bad now for ridiculing the modern day dutch fighters for their shitty preference for k-1 rules, but i didn’t know the whole story behind it…now i blame the japanese for everything LOL. Great video.

I hope Slamm makes it big and full Thai rules becomes the gold standard again, because alot of our sport is starting to look too much like boxing. If pro boxers with a little kickboxing training can get to the highest levels in our premier(supposedly) organization (k-1) you know something is wrong.

I truly think that the clinch and elbows is what really sets this sport apart from boxing, i love the sweet science, but i hate Muay Thai(kickboxing) being compared to it all the time! We are different! We aren’t just boxing with kicks thrown in!

Awesome video, thanks for posting!!! Really good to see the foundations being laid and muaythai in the 70’s & 80’s

Lucky barstard going to slamm 6, if 5 was anything to go by this is going to be epic.
