Here’s some Friday motivation for you. Fresh off the Rungravee clip… I have a renewed love of the leg kick. Not just any leg kicks but body torquing, jaw clenching, leg kicks…
Abs was training out at Sitmonchai in Kanchanaburi province and got some footage of Pornsaneh drilling some leg kicks… nice. Pornsaneh is turning out to be one of my favorite fighters. This guys always seems to bring it.
I get a ton of emails from people, the most common question is where should I train? That’s a complicated question as each camp is really unique from person to person. The second most popular question is which camp has the least amount of foreigners? Well it turns out that Sitmonchai has none! (ok one but it’s abs) The point is they’ve never had anyone outside their own fighters train there. Sitmonchai is home to Pornsaneh and Thepnimit… so if your looking for an authentic experience, I would get out there soon.
Ting Tong you seeing this? Anyway, have a great weekend… take your vitamins and drill your leg kicks!
Ohhh hoooahh!

is he really sitmonchai anymore? on all his recent fights he is listed as Pornsaneh 13 Riantower.
He is one of my favourite fighters but being 29 years of age, lets see how long he carries on with fighting those wars.

I’d love to see this clip with the camera angled a little lower so you could see his footwork. It looks like he’s getting his lead (left) foot deep and pivoting big-time to get that torque.

Very nice. Also, that’s how you hold leg pads and mitts.

I love leg kicks combos..they are also a good way to relieve stress=)..not good for your padholder=)

Pornsenah only recently left 13 Coins and now trains out of his original gym Sitmonchai.
He was only on a one year contract to fight for 13 Coins.
In other news, Saenchai Sor Kingstar is no longer at 13 Coins as well. He’s going to be fighting out of and training at Sinbi Muay Thai in Phuket.

i went to visit my friend/trainer sehmok (asanee suwan from beautiful boxer) at sitmonchai in 2002. He asked the gym owner if i could train there for a day or 2 whilst visiting him, they said no foreigners to my face. Sehmok managed to convince them to let me train and that i was ok to be left to my own devices. By the end of my second session they had me lined up to fight on the kings cup. That didn’t end up happening but i managed to have 7 fights for them winning all but 1 (levelling up my terrible record!). The gym is great, pornsaneh is just phenomenal, they had some other great fighters there too. Unfortunately after a trip back home when i returned i couldn’t take the isolation of the gym and at the time the possibility of having to fight anyone at anytime, i left the gym with my poor excuses and have never been back. Hopefully i’ll return one day to say hello if they even remember me, if i was that age again i’d go there tommorrow.

Thanks for posting this. I have a new found love for low kicks. Drilled them when training in Thailand but back at home, get to hardly drill them.
This got me excited…

Hey Everyone
The Sitmonchai crew returned to their camp in early October. The gym has been around for about 20 years, but they came to train out of 13 coins in the last year. While the senior fighters were training at 13 coins the gym has still active training the younger guys. Currently the top fighters at the gym are Pornsaneh, Asannee (the actor that played the part of Nong Toom in Beautiful Boxer) and Thepnimit (used to go by Pornimit at 13 coins).
Pornsaneh never had a contract at 13 coins. There was just a mutual parting of ways. They are very happy to be back at Sitmonchai and I have to say it’s a great gym. I’m livng there now and can highly recommend it. The training is great and the guys are really kind and helpful. They’ve hardly had any foreigners come over the years — and right now there’s just me so they are very helpful and giving me a lot of technical help — which was harder to get at 13 coins because of the volume of fighters and visiting farang.
Now Saenchai is gone too so I am not sure what will become of 13 coins. WIthout Simtonchai and Saenchai the quality and the energy is going to go way down. Pii Jaa — one of Saenchai’s trainers and a fixture at 13 Coins (he has been there since the gym opened) is also moving to Sitmonchai now. He arrived at the gym last night.
Anyway I’m working on a website: http://www.sitmonchai.com. Still waiting for the internet connection at the gym but if anyone is interested in training let me know. I’m helping with the arrangements on behalf of the owner. Contact details on the site.
@ H: Pornsaneh doesn’t have sak yant
@ TextMT I’ll get some more footage soon with the different angle. Simtonchia is known for having a certain style of fighting using a lot of combinations and low kicks. All the nak muay have at least one or two rounds on the leg kick pad in training. P’neh just fought so he’s on break for a week — starts training again soon for his next fight December 7th against Kongsak.
@ Mike — did you get your visa yet? :)

Hi, I am relatively new to Muay Thai, so please bear with me but I have a question which has been bugging me for a while. Yes, I do a lot of bag kicking to condition my shins and so forth but whenever I do a hard leg or thigh kick during sparring and it meets the opponent’s raised knee it sure hurts as hell, almost leaving me limping momentarily… Is it just me facing this problem or do others experience this too? It’s come to a point where I’m starting to think whether it’s actually worth taking the risk executing this kind of kick at all (I come from a Wing Chun background where this kind of kick is not common). Obviously, this must not be true, otherwise it would not be so prevalent and successfully used in Muay Thai all the time so I must have gone wrong somewhere…. can some kind people please enlighten me? Thanks and much appreciated.
