Fly Gear

I was going to do another installment of the Worst Muay Thai Shorts Take 4, but I thought I would attempt a new angle. Here are parts 1, 2 and 3 for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about.

It’s easy to sit here and talk shit about these shorts, so this time I think it’s only fair that I put myself out there, and do a Best of List. Besides if you don’t like’em you can suck it.

I find myself vacillating on these. Some day’s I’m not sure, but today I’m down with them. There is something about them that is very Masato’esque. They’re also very SuperfriendsI’m also down with the bling… your going to see it’s a common trait among the ones I’ve chosen.

I think this is from the “Muay Chaiya” line that Fairtex created to help promote the movie. I’m a huge fan of “Lai Thai” or traditional Thai designs and motifs. The symbol on the sides is a very typical “Lai Thai”. It’s nice to see that Thai designs are beginning to find their way back into Muay Thai.

These shorts are by Boon Sport. There a small shop on Sukhumvit rd. They do a lot of custom work. The use heaver weight satin and materials in their shorts. These shorts read “Nak Su”, for those of you who grew up watching Van Damme you should know what it means.

Once again I think it’s the bling that attracted me to these guys. These guys are going with the whole Chinese theme on these shorts… I don’t know somehow it all works… sort of an interesting concept, Thai written in a Chinese Font. We’re used to seeing English written in Chinese fonts, but some of you may have never seen before. These shorts read “Muay Thai”.

This seems to be a trend that may or may not make it over to the States. I think their dope, they’re the K-1 style shorts. Their longer like a pair of basketball shorts, but have a slit up the side for mobility. Personally I think they may make me look like a midget but you taller guys could probably rock them. These Shorts also say “Muay Thai” on the sides.

I think these are pretty cool, the 2nd post on My Muay Thai was about these shorts. I wasn’t sure if you would look like an MMA poser if wore these. I guess they are bordering on the K-1 style shorts. If they didn’t have the slit they would be full on Board shorts.

Anyway I would love to get some submissions from you guys. If you run across some gear you think is badass, send me an email… (on the about me page) I’ll respond with an address you can send pics.

The short looks a little japanese… and fairtex seems like doing all kinds of things. Maybe there will be fairtex TKD shirt or uniform, I dunno what they call but we never know…

I’m def down with Fairtex “board” shorts just because they have a slit down the side for better mobility for Muay Thai- usually I’m not too into the MMA style shorts for Muay Thai though. The others are pretty nice since they don’t say “I’m a killer” or “my dick is bigger than yours.”

I copped me the fairtext mma shorts. they are just as nice as pictured. Obviously not as free feeling as thai shorts, but comfortable nonetheless.
