My Muay Thai

The Rants and Ramblings of a Muay Thai Fan

Episode 11

April 1st, 2008 · 53 Comments

Is it me or is yod’s English getting pretty damn good? Perhaps one of the Contenders can help answer this for me. I noticed Jaymee was wearing an Amulet this past episode… did she get it from Yod?

It’s pretty funny to see but dude was working it hard. Can you blame him though? Props to NakMuayX for the upload. Oh yeah Spoiler Beyond this point…

Zidov… had the best quote hands down, when they found out that they would be fighting each other ” I’m going to kick you in the head” classic, it was really the only thing he could have said.

My wife wasn’t impressed with Parr’s showboating. I understand it though… I think at this point in the competition not only is winning important, but it’s how you win. You’ve got bury your guy, you have to intimidate your competition. I give Zidov mad props for picking himself up. He got severely abused but as Sean put it… he’s “Crackers” man. Dude is effing nuts. He’s got big heart, and it sucks to see him leave.

I know Zidov was on the blog a little while ago… if you get a chance let us know what your up to? Where you training?

Yeah i didnt like Zidov at first in the show, found him quite annoying, but now i have great deal of respect for him. He’s a solid person and i think a great friend to have.

For instance when JWP was out sick, compared to Jabbar saying i wish he had to leave an Zidov saying as a major underdog how he would love to figth him, and i he said the same about Yod when he had hes eye problem. I think hes got true nak muay spirit!!!

  • 2 Pauly // Apr 2, 2008 at 2:21 am

WTF!?, the ref should have called it after the 4th down. He was barely holding on in the 2nd, the ref should have seen he stood no chance. Complete mismatch…

  • 3 Pauly // Apr 2, 2008 at 2:23 am

Oh and that first knockdown looked like the end, i mean his body completely went limp on the hit. I don’t know how he got back up.

  • 4 TwoThumbs // Apr 2, 2008 at 2:37 am

understand zidov is with WMC Samui now.

  • 5 Screwi // Apr 2, 2008 at 6:21 am

    huge heart from zidov.

agree with big t, the guy’s really impressed me as a person and as a nak muay. can’t believe how many times he picked himself up. insane.

he looked tiny compared to JWP. fighting down a weight class, he could do very well. props to him, hope he does well in the future

  • 6 Antti // Apr 2, 2008 at 6:27 am

I have to say some thing about Dzhabar, he really did not say he wants JWP or Yod to say out. He was really surprised and a bit angry when he saw it coming from tv. They seem to have edited it like that, why I don’t know. Maybe to create more “tensions” or whatever…

  • 7 Spydaman // Apr 2, 2008 at 7:10 am

    Zidov, big heart……Respect!!!!

  • 8 Gusnark // Apr 2, 2008 at 8:06 am

Now, where are the guys saying JWP is not technical, just using his power, etc. Heh.

Zidov was really a great guy. At first I really didn’t like him, hanging with the French guy Rafik. I got wrong impression. Thought he was an idiot like Rafik. If he would lost to Zach, I would never know what a cool guy he is. Very funny, respectful and has big heart. Chockdee, Zidov!

Next fight will be great, what do you think, who will win? I vote for Soren.

  • 9 Nae // Apr 2, 2008 at 8:34 am

Nop: I disagree with your so-called “best quote”. The best quote was definitely from Yod.
“Not even an angel could help Zidov win”(in so many words).

Off topic, I’m so angry that someone spilled who is in the final at my gym the other day. I’ve been trying so hard to stay away from spoilers and someone brlew it for me. Sucks.

  • 10 Tong Po // Apr 2, 2008 at 8:53 am

Big heart for Zidov. He was destroyed by JWP. It was broadcast on tv, so JWP had to show his skills. Crazy spinning back kicks- didn’t know he could do that.

  • 11 TwoThumbs // Apr 2, 2008 at 9:44 am

also JWP had a bad first round fight so he had a bit to prove with this one. and he did good.

  • 12 Nakmuaymx (rodolfo) // Apr 2, 2008 at 10:51 am

Don’t thank me bro, I appreciate the credits though. Instead let’s all thank the people behind the contender…they really made a great reality series of it, so far i’m very pleased of what i’ve seen, Can’t wait for the finals though =P AND the second season!! =D

Big ups to my hermano Nopstar for this great website, i love it bro!

  • 13 Shadyeskimo // Apr 2, 2008 at 12:34 pm

JWP showed his real Game. Nice. Zidov was tough, but I would have been surprised if he won(So would Everybody) Soren will have to be cool against Dzhabar to win I think. Make him angry, but I actually dont know who I want to win.

  • 14 mike // Apr 2, 2008 at 1:02 pm

    link for episode 12 anyone?

  • 15 Anonymous // Apr 2, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Jabba did say “I hope Yodsanklai is going to be gone for a long long time”

Can’t stand him. David should’ve won that fight anyways… cocky bastard

  • 16 SE // Apr 2, 2008 at 3:47 pm

LOL @ people saying JWP is showing his a-game. its funny that JWP got a sudden boost of confidence when fighting someone he knew he was going to beat. he didnt do any of that with raffik. or i havent seen him like that in any of his fights. ive only watched a couple though. i have never heard of JWP until this show.

  • 17 * // Apr 2, 2008 at 5:05 pm

anyone got a link of episode 12

  • 18 GregH // Apr 2, 2008 at 5:10 pm

I guess JWP was showboating, but that isn’t bad because it’s a TV show, isn’t it? I’d guess these Contender fights might be among the most watched MT fights ever, and it’s the perfect place to show all your skills.

Anyway, Zidov was much smaller and skill-wise a notch or two below JWP, and he never looked like he had any chance.

  • 19 Spydaman // Apr 2, 2008 at 7:47 pm

I don’t agree wit the showboatin’…..It does nothin for me. I see nothin in tryin to ridicule someone who admitted being a big fan of urz to begin wit. I see nothin in tryin to riducule someone who is underweight and has way less experience than u in the ring.

Those spinning kicks coulda stayed in the TKD dojo where he got them from. I personally thought he was a bit unconsiderate….However in his defense I think that might just be his persona when he gets in the ring because outta the ring he seems so nice, respectful, fun.

Bring Raffik and David back for the second season.

My girl would like one of those contender shirts, anyone know where I can get one.

  • 24 koolkick // Apr 3, 2008 at 12:17 am

The fight was a mismatch. JWP was gr8. There will be no more fun in the show bcos Zidov left. He’s a funny guy indeed.

  • 25 Dii Mak // Apr 3, 2008 at 2:14 am

I thought it was a great episode and the fight was entertaining. JWP showed some great skill ( Spyda MT has quite a few spin kicks actually — ask Nop if you dont believe me ) and the showboating was maybe a bit of playing around for Zidov’s trash talking before the fight? I don’t think either one meant any disrespect.

Nop, nice reference to Yod spitting game. He’s thai right? lol… Reminds me of the FnF world’s biggest flirt. On Zach’s blog (from the show) he references someone going sans shirt the night they all went clubbing. He says hint, one of the asians. Hm… Neuropol or Yod. Who do you think? ha ha ha.

  • 26 Maxime // Apr 3, 2008 at 4:54 am

Great episode, even if JWP deserved to win I’m sad to see Zidov leaving, he’s really a great guy.
Anyone knows where he’s training? I live in Switzerland, I’m wondering if I could see him somewhere….

    cheers

  • 27 Spydaman // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:08 am

Hey Dii Mak, I know there are a few spin kicks in Muay Thai…..those are not the ones JWP did. If you watch the “Kick Fighters” video he’ll tell u that he train a few years of TKD and other martial arts before going into Muay Thai.

“and the showboating was maybe a bit of playing around for Zidov’s trash talking before the fight?”…Maybe ur right….We can only stipulate.

“I’m gonna kick u in the head”…that was a strange thing for Zidov to say just like that outta the blue.

The editing is the reason why I think we will never get to know their real personalities during the airing of this show (Im also including Raffik and Dhzabar int that whole)

a5yf k, I will never get tired of thankin’ u…..lol…..TwoThumbs thanx to u too.

  • 28 nopstar // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:17 am

Grake no worries, but I have to ask you not to post any spoilers.

Talk about episode 12 when it’s out.

  • 29 Dii Mak // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:17 am

No worries Spyda. I think that spin kick he throws is also used alot in “kickboxing” style as well.

Nop, its pretty late here and I just got out of the gym and am beat… so my mind is not working. Who always throws the thai style spin kick that translates to something like “dragon whips its tail ” or something? I can’t believe I cant think of his name right now.

Anyway, yeah, seems like the devil is in the editing.. always the case for reality shows I am sure.

  • 30 nopstar // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:21 am

It’s Jarakae Faht Harng… Crocodile whips it’s tail… I think your thinking of Somrak Khamsing…

  • 31 a5yf k // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:25 am

    Spydaman, its my pleasure!!!
Just doing my bit to keep everyone from this great site in the know…

  • 32 Dii Mak // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:26 am

Thanks Nop. Yeah, Somrak… I am way too tired right now… Anyway, thats a dope-ass move.

  • 33 Spydaman // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:27 am

Yea…ure right…the spinning wheel kick and spinning hook kick and spinning back kick are often used in Kickboxing which is orginally derived from Karate.

If your talkin about the “Dragon’s whips tail” whip you are refering to is a Thai Variation of the spinning hook kick…Seanchai has been known to do it, other than him I think I might have seen 3 other fighters do it (one of them being the fighter nicknamed “Samart 2″)

lol…u could have also been talkin about Bruce Lee in “Revenge of the Dragon” or was it “Fury of the Dragon”…..lol

  • 34 Spydaman // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:29 am

Sorry… meant to say “Crocodile” in my second paragraph..and not “dragon”…I must be tired too….lol

And yea, U may be talkin’ about Somrak….how can I 4get about him….lol.

  • 35 Maxime // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:31 am

About this spinning kick, I learned it in kickboxing, and called it (in french “queue de dragon” which means dragon’s tail). Relatively common in full-contact and kickboxing (there a very famous french full-contact fighter using a lot this move, it’s Samir “petit prince” Mohammed)

  • 36 Spydaman // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:36 am

Is there a Muay Boran move out there that Seanchai hasn’t done in any of his fights???…lol. This guy is too much for me….lol.

  • 37 grake // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:37 am

Dii mak you on zach blog?

  • 38 Dii Mak // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:48 am

    Hey Grake.

I met Zach a few times in the gym and talked fights, training in thailand, etc.. He’s a cool dude, really mellow (maybe half angmo? kidding… hope all you singaporeans got a little chuckle from that…).

Anyway, I just started checking out his blog. Cool write-ups on the episodes. I do not comment on it or anything.

You in Singapore? I am going to give Nop some info on BXG soon, just have been traveling a lot for work so not making it in as much as I want.

  • 39 grake // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:53 am

cool… nah i’m in Australia now. yeah zach… train with him a couple of time. Did you drop by muaythai.sg before? I think I remember seeing ur nick and ur pic somewhere.

  • 40 grake // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:56 am

Dii Mak you should drop him a tag… He will be glad about it.

  • 41 Dii Mak // Apr 3, 2008 at 8:10 am

    Grake,

Yeah I was on muaythai.sg a while back and ppl were very cool. I was getting info on gyms before I moved to the ‘Pore.

I need to go back there and see what is up, just been to busy. Everyone is cool at BXG, at least the peeps I chalk it up with - Joe, Zach and Joy. I only have time to self-train right now, so haven’t met alot of the people from muaythai.sg

Zach and I were talking about how small the MT community is and this site is a great showing of that. So, again, kudos to our boy Nop.

  • 42 grake // Apr 3, 2008 at 8:22 am

haha… yeah! small community thinks zach visit this site pretty often too… It has been sometime since I spoke to zach. So where are u now? still in SG?

  • 43 Suli // Apr 3, 2008 at 9:01 am

    Nop your the MAN!!!!!

  • 44 Tong Po // Apr 3, 2008 at 9:23 am

I agree the site is a good showing of the MT community- people from all over the world.

Suli, put on a damn headgear next time you spar- unless you think that its unnecessary- like Neungsiam. We went a few good rounds last night.

  • 45 Shadyeskimo // Apr 3, 2008 at 10:11 am

a5yf k Thanks again, I just Cant Wait. I think The JWP spinning kick was a sign of control and superiority.

  • 46 Suli // Apr 3, 2008 at 11:02 am

Tong Po.. Who are you in real life SON? show your face?

I dont like head gear that shit makes the back of my head hurt.

But the whole JWP fight and Zidov.. i dont want to sound like a jerk but he was out classed.
Like Zidov tried but he just could not hang yes he has heart but at that point he had nothing else… I think when he found out he was going against JWP it kinda messed him up.. Just knowing JWP is huge in the muay thai game..

But these are just my thoughts..

    Big up to zidov
    and JWP….

  • 47 THE Machine (KrEUaNG JAK) // Apr 3, 2008 at 11:21 am

damn, jwp showed the world why hes world class.

  • 48 alekos87 // Apr 3, 2008 at 1:05 pm

sean is best with low kick oh yeh

  • 49 Tong Po // Apr 3, 2008 at 2:38 pm

    Gem Mil motha fucka!!

  • 50 Dave // Apr 3, 2008 at 7:25 pm

I got to see Zidov fight a few weeks ago in Auckland NZ, he got KOd early in the 2nd round by a 46yr old Thai fighter by the name of Jom Bing. Was kind of suprised, he had his hands down the entire fight!

  • 51 Suli // Apr 3, 2008 at 10:22 pm

i thought it was you!!!! Next week lets spar!!

  • 52 Gio // Apr 4, 2008 at 2:48 pm

nop are you training in London? Heard you met david at a training session a while back. Where do you train at the mo?

  • 53 TexMT // Apr 8, 2008 at 4:35 am

Zidov showed class and heart through and through. JWP definitely redeemed himself in my eyes. After that first fight I wondered how he’d come out (maybe he’d force the issue and look even worse). Zidov was clearly a step below JWP, but sometimes lesser opponents make you look bad. JWP still isn’t a technician, but he fought smart and strong.
