Cosmo vs. Yodsanklai
June 30, 2009 by nopstar

Many thanks to Stephen from Pittsburgh Muay Thai for sharing this clip with us. Not sure what happened with this fight…
I’m not sure if Cosmo was trying to just survive the 5 rounds, or if he really was lying in wait.
They had talked about Yod having some issues with making weight, so maybe it was initially a strategy to survive and to bring the fight to Yod in the later rounds? It’s easy for one to criticize from the safety of the keyboard, but yeah I would have liked to seen Cosmo go balls out.
I do however recognize it has to be intimidating as hell to be in the ring with Yod. It’s got to be one of the worst feelings in the world to have Yod beating on your door all day.

Well there were quite a bit of changes in opponet for Yod leading up to this.
First Steve Wakeling, then Artem Levin, and then Cosmo. Cosmo has 3 weeks or less in prep time. Cosmo is obviously hesitant and intimidated. And 3 weeks ill prepares you for Yod. I like Cosmo though and he’s much better than what this shows. BTW I put up all the HQ videos I have. Get them before they vanish.
It would seem that Cosmo had a gameplan fighting the way he did against the mighty Yod; unfortunately he overestimated his ability to withstand the continuous punishment that Yod can give out and then some…
Cosmo’s fit but thinking Yod would make a mistake or tire himself out dishing out attack after attack… boy, did he get it wrong!!!
I thought i read that Cosmo had his nose broken in the first round. Don’t quote me on that but I thought that’s what I glanced at………Either way, Yod was methodical and Cosmo didn’t have an answer. I would hate to receive those blows from Yod!
I’m not sure if Cosmo ever fought southpaw fighter before. I thought he was confused. When I fought southpaw for the first time, i was confused. It took my game plans away from me such as the counters, kicks, etc…by the time i got to 4-5 round. I kinda got the hang of it and lost by decisions.
thats a pity.
Cosmo looked like he could have given yod a real hard match. the small number of techniques he displayed looked very sharp.
yeah, teep. cosmo himself posted on the k-1 boards about his nose getting broken in the first. cosmo did the best he could under the circumstances, but yod is a monster.
on a side note, seeing the performances of buakao and yod side-to-side on friday, if there were any doubts as to who would win a fight between the two now , i think the answer is pretty clear.
Cosmo has the world’s longest Wai Kru, jeez. I love the Wai Kru, I’m all for it but …seriously, this long? Not only that, but I’m not sure if shooting an arrow at Yod was a good idea, haha. To be honest, I wasn’t very impressed with Yod’s performance against an opponent who didn’t do much. Yodi should have ended this a lot sooner, kind of like the fight with Naruepol. Anyway, kind of boring fight. I expected more. Hopefully the Spong and Carnage fight was better.
GorillaPalmz, the answer will be clear when those guys will actually step in the ring.
Am i the only one who thinks that Yod is the scariest guy to be in the ring with? His look and determination gives me the creeps.
As much as yod can be intimidating he’s just a guy.
I mean come on you’re a fighter you should be used to taking some hits.
Did you guys see the way Cosmo curled up into a ball during the earlier round?
I mean really? Your fighting for a world title…
I was dissapointed with this fight, it was like the watching tourists who pay fairtex an arm and a leg to get in the ring with the fighters.
Just read Cosmo’s post online i guess he did the best he could…
Apologies for my earlier rant
Gunsnark, i really would *NOT* want to see that fight happen, for buakao’s sake. that would be utter destruction, taking into consideration the point each fighter is in their respective careers and the weight difference. i hope they don’t make it happen.
Big difference in experience. As usual Yod took him apart and finished him.
Yod Yod Yod Yod Yodsaenklai Yod Yod Yod Yod Yod
TigerKing,
“I mean come on you’re a fighter you should be used to taking some hits.”
I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s one thing to take some hits from some fighter, or being in the ring with Yod. ;)
Wow! Yod’s hands are sick!! How the hell did Souwer beat him? I love how Yod doesn’t even waste a second, first round and he’s up and running. Love it…
cosmo looks around 10 to 18 lbs bigger than yod. yod looks like the muay thai version of barry bonds compared to his younger years. what a growth spurt in muscles. that’s a lot of larp and hoi jor. hahahaha. jk. he’s such a beast.
What a worst performance by cosmos. Looked like a tourist fightning for fun in thailand. And how the hell they are matching up these fighters with legends like yod. The fight alomost looked like yod was training with thai pads.
Don’t think Yoddy lost any weight for this fight. He’s looking more and more bloated each time I see him in the ring. Guess it doesn’t matter to him.
Ditto, Yod living the life..he better watch out before all that rice catches up wiht him=). ..ANyway he probably did not have to worry about a big cut judging from Cosmos size.he probbaly fought closest to his walking weight that we have ever seen. AFter Artem it looks like he did change up his MO for taller opponents.
