Just found this a few minutes ago. They held the press conference today for “The Contender Asia” The two fighters that were present during the press conference were Yodsaenklai Fairtex and Arslan Magomedov. Big thanks to MuayThai.sg for taking pics and breaking the story.[Gallery not found]
They said that they are going to begin shooting next month, and that the first of fifteen episodes will air on AXN in October. As was previously mentioned they are in “Negotiations” to have this broadcasted in Europe and the US
Here is a clip of Yod doing pad work at the conference

Southpaw for liiiiiiife!….U go Yod!!! Oh boy! Oh boy! I hope they do bring it to the U.S.
Nop, u are the M.F’in MAN!
If they do broadcast it here…..Can u imagine the noise this will make….especially if it plays on SPIKE TV?????? This could be HUGE for Muay Thai! I might actually be able to buy me a decent pair of thai shorts or gear from here instead of waiting 5 weeks for them to come from Thailand…lol

I think this is too good to be true. Is there a weight class or a weight limit for the Contender?
If theres a weight limit then i think it would make sense for Seanchai to enter but i doubt he can make the 154 class.

Please tell me Yod is one of the instructors. He shouldn’t be a contender for anything at this point.
July 12, 2007 at 5:06 am
Well…u’re right…..but technically half of the guys I have seen in the commercial don’t need to be contending for anything (Except Ole Laursen)…anyway….I don’t think we should take the word “Contender” the same way it was meant to be used in the US as in “Newbies, nobodies or washed up fighters trying to make it into the big time”. Hopefully they’ll be a Lumpini contending bout as a reward or something (Hold on…doesn’t Yod already own the current belt at Lumpini for his division?). Maybe Nop or anyone else with some info can shed some light on us.
