Contender Asia Filming Over

October 25th, 2007 · 17 Comments

Just a quick update, it appears that filming of The Contender Asia has completed. If you remember the original Contender Series, they aired the live finals at a much later date. According to John Wayne Parr that’s what their plan is for this Contender.

JWP has been on the K-1 fans boards lately, it sounds as if most of the guys had a great time.

“I had a really great time in the house and was one of those things just like every other reality show were I became super close to all the other fighters, except Zidov! We had to lock our doors at night because Zidov threaten to do things to our bottoms that was very scary and I didnt want my ass cracked ha ha ha ha ha!”

The fighters were in two teams but we trained togther and lived together. We all hang out the whole time and everyone got very close. Sean is such a nice guy, we got on very well. I wish I could say all the things we got up too but cant spoil it, lets just say when everyone sees everyone will be a little jealous cause we got to do so many amazing things.
My run down on all the fighters
Bruce: good guy
Soren: Top bloke
Pitu: my new brother
Yukay: really nice guy and family man
Sean: out there but super cool
Zack: Best host you could ask for and top bloke
Dzhabar: Really nice guy
David: good guy
Alain: good guy
Trevor: Really nice guy
James: Family man
Yodsanklai: So funny and loves spicy prawns
Narapol: good guy
Zidov: Ha ha ha ha, funniest dude I ever met.

Sounds like Tong Po would have had a great time…

Some of the participants have been on the boards this past week. Thankfully they’re all being very tight lipped about everything.

I suspect we are in for some drama, Rafik Bakkouri was just on the forum and left a fairly cryptic message that seemed like a veiled apology. Also, I see JWP failed to comment on Rafik…

“hi guys i could say what Mr jwp said about this story but i don’t have to apologize to something cause it was me with my qualities and my defaults i was over there for the challenge and to be ok with everybody but like life you are accepted by someones and rejected by others The most important is respect and we could say someones have a strange way of thinking that’s life and everybody could have their own point of view”

You guys may have remembered Rafik from a previous post, he’s the French fighter who went to Fairtex and called out Yodsaenklai. Those my friends are some cojones, or oeuf’s (that’s for you spyda)

I saw in a recent press release that it’s going be aired on AXN across Asia and Australia in Jan. I suspect most of us in North America and Europe will watching it online. Who knows maybe we’ll get lucky.

I’m still waiting on the new trailer, they seem to be taking their sweet ass time with it. I’ve also found a link to the making of Contender Asia, don’t get your hopes up though… I was literally only able to watch about 5 min. of it, it’s sucked so hard. It’s almost like they didn’t get permission from the Contender to do it… it’s really janky. I’m throwing the link because some of you may find it interesting. You need to use IE in able to view the content.

I’m very curious to find out wut happened between Rafik and JWP, if anythin I woulda thought Raf and Yod woulda bumped head (maybe they did, who knows?).

I was at the fight in Pattaya between Raf and Yod. I would not expect there to be words between them, Raf got owned so hard in that fight. It was not even close.

Sad to hear it was so bad. Ah well I had my misgivings from the start. Interesting bit about Rafik too.

Actually I know the who’s fighting for the finals cos I train at Fairtex the same camp as Naruepol and Yodsanklai. But I’m not sure if I can reveal this or not. The stories behind the filming that they told me were a little different though.

    Nonameidentified-

First I’d like to welcome to MyMuayThai.com, secondly I’m going to ask you to NOT share that tidbit of info with us. I’m planning on watching these, so please don’t post any spoilers.

doesnt yod trains in pattaya but naruepol in bangplee?

  • 11 Nonameidentified // Oct 31, 2007 at 2:58 am

Well, for all that I know and all that I see, they’re always at Pattaya. I think Bangplee has too many foreigners training there.
There’s another guy that you guys should check it out. His name’s Attachai. A lefter and great kicks too. He’s just won a match in Belgium last week.
Yod and Naruepol will be heading off to Paris for a match soon.
