Contender Asia Episode 6
February 26, 2008 by nopstar
So I’ve got some good news and some bad news to report on. I’ll start off with the bad. For the past couple of days I was having problems uploading Episode 6 onto stage6.com. I went on to the site and to my surprise instead of seeing the home page, a note saying they were closing shop welcomed me.
So as of Thursday they are shutting down for good. So it leaves us without a good video solution. If any of you know of anything else comparable to stage6 let me know.
Know for the good news, I’m still going to be posting episodes of the Contender Asia. I’m going to be chopping them up into 3 chapters and hosting them on DailyMotion. I know the quality isn’t going to be nearly as good, but until we find a replacement this is the best we’ve got.
I’m not entirely sure how to hide the thumbnail in the videos so your going to see who’s fighting… sorry this is something I’m going to have to work on.
So enough about that, I know I sound like a broken record but the show just keeps getting better and better.
At times I do feel for the Boars, It would be nice to have a shopping spree, but come on… lets keep things in perspective. The goal is to go as far as you can in the competition. Losing is never easy but get over it, its just stuff. Speaking of stuff, Pitu get’s a fax? Who the hell uses fax machines anymore?
I like Dzhabar, but my man has got some anger issues. I think this was the most even match up so far. Some of the scrappiest fights yet, I was pretty amazed with their pace and overall aggressiveness. Dzhabar loves that over hand elbow, it would be interesting to see how many times he actually landed it. If any of you understand Thai, during the fight when David is bent over the ropes and Dzhabar is behind him you can hear one of the Thai’s ( I think it was Yod) say “Stop playing with his ass” wonder why they didn’t bother translating that.
Honestly I thought it was too close to call, with the deductions I would have thought the decision would have gone the other way.
I’ve started dropping in to train at KO here in London. I’ve yet to meet David, I suspect he may teach at another branch. I’d like to meet him get his perspective on the show.

Actually i also thought that David going to win the fight as well but then at the same time, i want see to Dzhabar winning it!
Dzhabar is more aggressive and has more interesting fighting style (not always a safer way though).
Too bad we cannot use stage6 anymore (I will need to go find torrents)
I think the fight was really good matched up. It was exciting since round one.
I thought Jabba to be winning to but I wont surprise if David won too.
Good one !
this program is losin its edge.how crap was that task, moving boxes about , booooring…..training and fighting is the only interesting bits…all this fake hand clapping all the time…….all this pretend friendship cetween blue and red teams…..thats a load of crap……they r all individuals in their.,………they dont give a fuck whose in whose team…..why make them pretend to be team mates like that……..false as fuck………
I mentioned it b4…..to me it was the best fight so far…..Worst decision…..the only reason why I believe Dzabhar won is because of the numerous throws he had during the fight ( those really were nice throws and I believe David needs to work on his balance)….but David clearly had the upper hand throughout most of the rounds. They both caught elbows, both got caught but it seems to me like David hit him much more.
Dhzabar did impress me though, I didn’t expect him to be that good. I wish him the best of luck.
Damn…no more Stage 6???…..Dat freakin sux.
Dhzabar yes he does have some anger issues but he is strong. i wish he would have thrown more and not go for the knock out every time.
But a very good fight!
AAhhhh Fuck No more Stage 6, Yes Daily is a lot crappier but I dont know of any better sites so i guess we will have to make it with Daily. Dzhebar always appealed to me Exept when he Let Raffik Get to him, and yes he is young and hot tempered but let him age, David…………. He clearly was more effective in his kicking and punching, the only thing he needs is A lot of Clinch Training. Thougt he won though, but i guess Throwing is a scoring move too.
The only problem I had with the player is the audio and video matching up. Other than that it wasn’t that bad.
I thought it was a good fight except it was too close to call. With Dzhabar’s 2 point deduction though, I would have to say David should have won it.
That’s exactly what I was thinking……If the fight was so evenly match as all of us seem to have recognize……How the hell did Dhabar win a 5 round bout….with less strikes landing than David and with 2 point reduction????….2 FREAKIN’ POINTS..That makes absolutely no sense. Someone needs to explain that to me. Unless the judges were counting the throws as points (in which case they may need to take a trip to Thailand and learn the point system). I give Dzhabar all the props in the world…but I do think someone got robbed, big time.
Off the Subject, Did you guys see on the K1 website That Sombat will be fighting Albert Kraus Again to qualify for Max.
This was so close, it’s always best to see equal fighters… have to agree with Nop, I thought David would win because of points deduction, but on the other side have to agree with Spydaman, that throws probably made the difference. Just too damn close.
Were you guys disappointed over this two guys behavior? David disappointed with disrespectful “gesture” and Dhzabar disappointed with hateful reaction. Oh, well…
Yeah i forgot about the point deduction, Hmmmm. David did win, strange judges right There.
I have to agree wit the David disrespectful gesture when it came to saluting his opponent when he got picked…I didn’t think it was very NakMuay like???
Yes, as Nop said, Dhzebar has an anger problem, and David is a bit of a smart ass(not meant as a negative trait.)He jokes a lot and I think a muslim like Dzhebar takes any insulting joke Seriously and personally. Dont have anything against Peacefull and Tolerant Muslims, just the ones that chops heads off and Go Bang in a Train or Bus. He said that David was rude and didnt respect any one, my guess is that Dzhebar misunderstood a David Joke and got pissed.
and nop I dont see any thumbnail. or maybe im just not looking but good for me.
The best match up so far on the show, i was hoping David didnt get eliminated in the 1st rd. I dont see any comeback from the blue team in the future, all they have left is naruepol. Mannnn y iz it have to be David……dats sukkk Jabba is good too, dude is very aggressive.
Says on stage6 that sumo.tv or something is a replacement. Says they’ll get DivX on there soon too.
I gotta say I thought David had this one. Dzhabar had the first round, but the rest were hard calls. Still, I felt David had an upper hand in them.
Thanks for the upload
Sincerely
Very entertaining fight.. David definitely should have won with those point deductions as evenly as they fought. He should practice that ground and pound cause he has the take downs ready..
Man seriously tho, they shoulda went to extra round to really see who was the victor!!!!
Episode. 7, upload it whoever have it, thanks.
I don’t know if you guys were watching the same fight i was but David got Robbed. I saw him winning 4 rounds. His technique was better. He was landing more strikes and he was not holding his own in the clinch. That was a stupid desicion by the Judges. All you Jabba nuthuggers can KMA!!!!! Jabba was sloppy.
^^^ typo i meant to say he WAS holding his own in the clinch!!! Who bribed the judges??? That’s my question.
^^^ typo i meant to say he was doing well in the clinch!!! Who bribed the judges??? That’s my question.
^^^^^^^^typo wth did u jus say? lol david wasnt doing well in the clinch, he was gettin tossed everywhere. He need more balance also. I wanted David to win too.
he kicked him on the ground like it was pride FC LOL
didnt u guys see dhzabar take david down like a million times? i dont even know why theres even an argument here, david’s technique was better but kept letting dzhabar slam him so he lost, anyways can someone please upload episode 7
I read the comments first and I think that it was closer than most people said it to be. I think that it was a very hard decision for the judges. I wouldn’t want to judge that fight. But I do agree that the deductions should have put David on top. But either way very very good fight for both of them.
Damn Dzhabar is young.
Good Fight. I did feel Jabba won the fight tho, he seemed to be the constant aggressor. I think the judges felt it was a draw after the points were taken away and then went on who won the fight, which was Jabba. I noticed that after first round he looked very winded but after 2nd round the tables had turned, david seemed to be very tired after each round. Good fight, and i was actually stunned on how quick Jabba was.
Hmm… I dunno but if you visit Zach blogs… He pretty says everything you all have been wondering why Jabba won. Juz pay him a visit and leave a comment on his blog. http://www.zig-zach.blogspot.com
You have to remember that these versions of the fights are edited so we might not be seeing all the hits that actually went down.
if anyone out there who don’t know… Jabba took on Buakaw onces. Maybe not many out there is willing to take on the K1 champ.
That being said, I was rooting for Dzabar at first but in the end I was hoping for David to win, just looks like a better all around fighter and character
Dzabar needs to cool it, you’d think for someone that was so rooted in his religion that he’d be a little more peaceful.
ont have anything against Peacefull and Tolerant Muslims, just the ones that chops heads off and Go Bang in a Train or Bus. He said that David was rude and didnt respect any one, my guess is that Dzhebar misunderstood a David Joke and got pissed.
What does his anger have anything to do with is religion??
And if someone did what david did to dzabar i would have been pissed also its not very nak muay or its classy..
Soooo Zig Zach issss a Muslim lol i never seen a Singorporean muslim before.
I agree on the Dzhabar-throws. Some of them were sick! He just tossed David aside, even made it look easy. Damn strong fella
…………thats a first………..a young muslim leaving the mosque on the eve of battle without an AK47 in his hand……….for dzhaber to have 2 points deduct and still win outright, he mustv been 3 points ahead….and he clearly wasn’t…….the producers must have thought the muslim tv audience is a bigger market share than the black or the UK audience………..fix………..
Racial Comments are probably not necessary bud
enough….I should have deleted the first comment. Figured people would be mature enough not to go there.
Stick to the fights
No harm intended. I like Dzhebar!!! I have Muslim friends. Im not religous.
Sackpunt and kicking a downed opponent.
Dzabar is all class.
2 point deductions and he still won? I’m sorry but for that to be true David would have to have been basically killed and he wasn’t.
“enough….I should have deleted the first comment. Figured people would be mature enough not to go there.”
Remember what I said earlier about the Contender demographic?
The decision should have gone to David. He fought with dignity and that was a good elbow shot to Dzabar’s head. But i feel David lacked punching in the fight. He could have easily won if he’d used more punching in the fight. I strongly feel that the decison should have favoured david. Dzabar fouled 2 times and still he won the fight.
Listen guys….This wasn’t a Sanda or San shou bout….This was a Muay Thai bout. Throws do not count for points in Muay Thai, point blank…So stop bringing that up.
David got cheated, why is that so hard to admit???….Dhzabar is a really good fighter, but the truth still remains that the judges obviously didn’t kno wtf they were doing. The battle was really close, but with the 2 points deduction this was one of the easiest decision of the season.
Correct me if I’m wrong but Dhzabar’s 2 point deduction is equal to David winning 2 standard rounds (unless David caught a deduction himself or got Knocked Down with an 8 count ‘not thrown down’).
That would mean that Dzhabar would have to had won 3 rounds to win this fight.
I watched the figth over and over and the first round IMO was won by David’s low kicks…plus more strikes landed (Sure David got thrown 3 times…so wut?…throws don’t count for points.)..he landed more strikes than Dzhabar
round 2….David was the aggressor, landed WAY more strikes…and YES….he dominated the clinch with knees..watch the round again.
4th round….2 point deduction…..Need I say more?
BS DECISION!….That’s why the damn season should have been filmed in freakin’ Thailand.
Last comment was me!
I just went to zachs blog….and he says that throws scores points??? wtf??…To all the other Nak Muayz out there…I was always taught that throws don’t count for points. so please gimme your opinion.
Zach dunno wth hes talking bout, he only defending Jabba kuz its his teammate, but if he was David teammate, he would go the other way.
Hi
Different Muay Thai governing bodies have different rules on scoring and throws are one of the items they differ on most. Be good if Contender Asia gave a link or published the rules they’re using on their site.
Look at the WMC (World Muay Thai Council) rules on scoring which is section 17 at http://www.wmcmuaythai.org/muaythai/muay_rules.htm
So under WMC throws don’t score directly, but they can show dominance & the refs can award points for dominance.
Clear as mud
Muay Thai’s always been judged on that. But it didn’t show enough dominance following 2 point deductions due To Dzabar’s fouling.
Ok guys, my post is totally off topic, well here it is…
Are you familiar with “It’s Showtime Reality”?
The ones not familiar with, this show is pretty similar to Contender Asia.
http://www.superprosamui.com/content/showtimereality_summary_try_outs.php
“A team of great judges invited group of fighters (max 75kg) to train in Thailand under heavy circumstances. During their stay the fighters can show their skills and can be selected to fight in the Amsterdam Arena 2008 and win a super contract of $100,000.”

Spydaman-
In Thailand (at least Chiang Mai) throws and take overs are huge points. It was when I was there anyway…
um wat the fuck i didnt even post that u fucking dickhead
what the deuce is goin on at MMT.com….racial jokes and now IDENTITY THEFT?! who the heck is pretending to be alekos87 and typin up spoilers up in this mother????
truly a smeared turd thing to do.
(im not writing a comment for another week, so if my name comes up, its a fake)
What a crock of shit decision. David CLEARLY had the better striking, even when he played it safe in the last 2 rounds. Dzhebar’s striking needs ALOT of work. Also, half of Dzhebar’s so-called “throws” were actually him being off balance after over-committing to sloppy strikes, then just falling on David. Add that to the 2 point deduction, and David wins that fight in any un-biased arena. I guess they wanted to keep Dzhebar around for drama. Either that or they used blind 6yr olds for judges.
u guys are just stupid noobs who dont watch enough lumpini or thai boxing in thailand in general, those slamms do count for points, specifically dominance and u get points for controlling the ring. did u guys see how tired david was after getting up from the dhzabar’s slamms? thats dhzabar’s dominance, dhzabar was being schooled by david’s better technique and used his strength to bring david down to stop him from striking. anyways what the fuck is up with the camera view changing i can barely tell whats goin on in the fight. its fuckin edited man, this aint muay thai
Whoever trying to steal my identity, it wont be me because ill be out of town for a week, so whoever that dickhead is, better stop it.
Ill be going to San Francisco for a week, as you guys know, im gay, yep thats right im gay soo ill be in San Francisco for a little while sucking balls, getting fuck in the azz. have a nice day.
I knew MT has some throws and stuff, but very often the fight looked more like an MMA fight than a MT match. David should have done more to prevent those throws because he was really flying in the air, and it made him look like a sissy. Dhzabar must know Sambo.
Without the deductions, it was a very close fight and maybe Dhzabar was slightly ahead. BUT with 2 point deductions, I really don’t know how he won. It’s either I don’t know enough about MT, or the judges were off.
episode 7 anyone?
Jabba must know Sanshou u mean.
Dhzabar is from Russia. Sambo is a russian style of ground fighting.
He could know sanshou though I suppose.
Why is Jabba living in the Emirates?
Well Sambo dont do takedown, they more on submission.
can someone plz put the link up for episode 7
Off topic, but I do believe Sambo has a lot of throws. Matches start on the feet and they wear a gi much like in judo.
David won easy. Its funny how there was 1 point in it but Jabba had 2 points deducted. It wasnt staged in thailand because there were 2 thais competing and it would have been a massive advantage considering the thais are the the best at thai boxing (hence the name) a Thai even won the show. I am English so you may think I am biased. I thought Jabba was going to destroy David with Davids emotion before the fight and Jabba speaking calm and determened. But David seem to connect more. Did you see the look on Jabbas face he looked tired and beaten in the second round. He thought he had lost at the end. The crowd were cheering Davids name, his team mates knew he had won. Throws shouldnt count Jabba was using them as rest bite because David was on top. I think it may have come down to being a black, british or religious thing considering what country they were in and the fact jabba is a muslim.
