Contender Asia Debut… for some

January 16, 2008 by nopstar

So for those of you who haven’t been counting down the days, The Contender Asia finally debuted last night. For those of you fortunate enough to live in area with access to AXN Asian, you were no doubt treated to some Muay Thai action.

If you’re a poor sap like me you spent most of the day, scouring the web and scheming on ways to get a hold of the episode.

I apologize for lagging on the post today, I wanted to get something out sooner, but I spent most of the day in disbelief that nobody has posted the episode. I’m heading out to Bangkok next Tuesday, I hope to remedy our situation personally.

If any of you have access to AXN Asian and you have recording capabilities… send me an email, maybe we can work something out, come to some sort of arrangement.

Anyway, The official Contender Asia site has been updated and they’ve got some clips and summaries of the first episode. I’m still holding out, I would rather watch the episode then read about it. I hope to post something as soon as possible.

  5. matt on January 17th, 2008 5:47 am

…I take it whoever asked Narupon what his name was , did it to be polite and get him talking, or did someone in there not actually know who he is!??

  6. matt on January 17th, 2008 5:49 am

.oh and good effort on the updates nopstar I’m stuck in a hotel without axn…threaders…)

  7. Grake on January 17th, 2008 7:11 am

The show is kinda disappointing, with the filming angle and the subtitle. But still it worth the effort… Still lots of things could be improve.

But I heard its better then “The Contender : Boxing” and BTW for the results of the first match was Narupol won and Trevor was send home. While the results for the 2nd Match was… erm not going to be a spoilter for you guys.

I am at a hotel in Singapore and watched it. Man, was it just me, or did other people read Grake’s post and find it unbelievably clueless… ha ha…

Hey, how about I break down each round and also the apparent dislike and shit talking that may or may not have happened. I can start to spoil the next episode as well just from the teaser. Naaa… I’ll let you guys wait.

I’ll say this. The quality is not bad, but the filming could make it a bit more dramatic. Also, the fights are standard 5 round, which is great for us. I fear though, that the casual fan will lose interest. And that is not good overall. I think the drama in the house is going to heat up on Raffique (sp?) alone. Its no surprise that he comes off like a cocky mother fucker. So we’ll see..

  20. kai on January 18th, 2008 1:15 am

    episode1 is up on bittorrent.

    downloading it now !!!!

  21. alphadog on January 18th, 2008 2:54 am

the action’s aint that good. dont expect k1 standards even. you can barely see shit from the way they film it. like dark and shit. and its film from like a top down angle which is crap. even filming a fight with ur hp would be much better

  22. a5yfk on January 18th, 2008 5:04 am

    Thanks Anonymous you da man!!!
I had been looking everywhere kai and your right it is up on torrents now was not there yesterday.
Grake your an idiot for telling everyone the result, not cool buddy!!

  23. spydaman on January 18th, 2008 8:43 am

I’d like to say thank u Anonymous, Kai and everyone else who has contributed to us being able to view the fight.

Oh and once again, I’d like to give a special shout out to Grake for ruining it for us.

and alekos87 “u smeared turd!!!”….That’s one of the funniest name calling I have ever heard in my life….thanx for that….lol…..NOP…Thanx for this site.

  30. Gusnark on January 18th, 2008 3:50 pm

Hi guys, what do you think of this Episode 2 preview:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l4CuOv8TJU

I don’t know, I find it somehow fake. Is Yod really saying that, does he even speak English?
Could it be just some cheap “set up” for the viewers, well this is how I see it.
Even if it’s true, I remember Yod kicking Rafik’s ass, so if I would be him, I would be smart enough to keep my mouth shut, lol.

  31. lankapo on January 18th, 2008 7:59 pm

can’t wait to see the second round,
yup the budget is low, you can see there are not mny people watching it.
Why it is staged in Singapore anyway, Thailand should be the perfect place.

I read there are K1 fighter are better than them like masato and buakaw

  32. gary on January 19th, 2008 8:54 pm

what up rafrdick no frogs legs for dinner well you will get all the legs you can handle when you get in the ring with any of them boy jw , yod give him his porrage lumpy peace

  33. Gusnark on January 21st, 2008 11:56 pm

“I take it whoever asked Narupon what his name was”

Matt, I think Zidov was kinda making fun of him. That was not very respectful, since he could clearly see, he can’t speak english. I’m sure everyone there know for each other. I hope Naruepol teaches him a lesson.

  34. loz on January 22nd, 2008 12:32 am

Yodsanklai can speak english. The production quality is very good. This is a REALITY TV show. So it’s just not about the fighting. Even people who don’t know anything about Muaythai will enjoy it I think. Zidov is funny, it’s called a sense of humor. Anyway, they are on the same team. Can’t wait for the next episode.

  35. matt on January 22nd, 2008 12:50 am

Gusnark, I’ve just met Zidov a couple of days ago, he is a good guy, I think he was just making an effort to get people talking…..I mean there was two options for people in the show, either try to speak to Narupon or dont bother, (because is English isn’t great)….so at least he made an effort…

(I didn’t pick up from the clip that it was zidov that said that so i didn’t ask him about it!!)

…and i’ve still not seen the bloody program yet… all this downloading and file sharing business is driving me up the wall!!!
