Champions of Champions 2

Another big event on the horizon is the Champion’s of Champions 2 in July. These were the fights that were held in Jamaica last summer, the whole web ppv debacle… ring a bell?
Clearly it’s way too early to start getting fired up about a line up as they’re bound to change. There have been some interesting names thrown out there Yodsanklai, JWP, Buakaw, Anuwat, et al… before you get in a tizzy about seeing Yodsanklai and Buakaw on the same card, I would be willing to bet some loot that these two won’t be matched up.
I know Yod has been trying to get a fight with Buakaw, for a while but I think the more likely match up would be Buakaw vs. JWP. BTW JWP if you’re reading this where are my DVDs?
The match up that caught my eye was Carnage vs. Spong 93KG. Hellfighter of the K-1 forums offered that up and is even saying they’re in the process of working out what rules they’ll be fighting under.
I’m still skeptical, this is exactly the kind of hype promoters live for. Ever since Spong plumped up, I had all but given up on seeing these two break some off.
What do you think? Hype or plausible?
Would love to see Spong and Carnage- if Spong can get down in weight again. As for Buakaw and Yod. I would think Yod via UD or KO, if this fight even happens.
Wow another jamaica match, I hope the feed is better this time over. Its been a while since I seen a Yods fight, we need some new material for cracking the shell=)
I really hope he can get more fights this year. A birdie told me he may grace the US with his presence, but lets see how the promotion and that pesky visa issue works out.
If Yod comes to the USA it’ll probably be for Warner.
Oh also most likely hype. I think nothing less than an act of God will make Carnage versus Spong happen.
I wonder how I can get a job as commentator.
With that being said, I think I can do a better job than Phil Stone and “Blinky” Rodriguez. Haha.
Shame how they had no clue who Yod was, and kept calling JWP, “John Wayne Parrah”.
While I’d love to see Yod and Buakaw get it on; Yod is currently too heavy for Buakaw , who is no longer the fighter he once was 2 years back and it will definately be one-sided…
The only farang fighter than can possibly take on Yod is Great Britian’s Steven Wakeling;

Kidding, but seriously I often wonder what it must be like for him. When he started his career he fought every chance he could get, barring injury etc. Train hard every day because come weekend you fight.
Now it must be train…train..train..we still looking for a fight..and visa and promotions. I wonder what it does to a warrior at his calibre to have to adjust to this. OUr guys complain when they cant get good MT fights in our region, I can only wonder how his camp feels.
I really hope we see more of him. I think we are lucky to witness Yod in his prime and it would be a good thing for his career to be well documented

Wakeling’s got some cojones
From what I heard and from what people are saying on Ax an k1fans,Wakling’s got a better chance than most….but still!!!
I think Anuwat/Harrison fight is an excellent matchup.
1. Anuwat Kaewsamrit – Liam Harrison Great ! I remember the match Harrison VS Sanchai ,Harrson was so good tech.

For it seems impossible to see Yod VS Buakaw ,but JWP has the chance to battle with the 2 Boss. So let’s see who is better .

For anyone that cares I don’t this card is solidified yet and more over even though the logo is on there I don’t think Dennis Warner is involved any longer. And allegedly there is some bad feelings in particular with Clifton Brown and one of Warner’s partners in promoting. I’ll be impressed if half that card actually happens. A damn shame too because it was looking like a dream card.
Apparently Clifton Brown is the matchmaker? Well that would explain the bad blood I suppose.

I am glad some great MT matches are in the Caribbean though. People have been trying to market MMA down there so I am happy to see promoters giving MT a go.
I honestly wouldn’t expect much of this to come together given the various debacles of the last one and now losing Dennis as promoter. The arrangement now looks like RISARC the ‘non-profit’ organization and Clifton Brown. It really smells of a cash and dash sort of operation. If this event comes off it’ll be the biggest and best in international Muay Thai this year.
Sadly to me if something seems to good be true it usually is but we’ll see.

I agree, if only half of the fights are true that would be great. We’ll have to wait and hope for the best, but Jamaica tournament didn’t disappoint, so let’s hope for the best.

Allegedly this is to be June 26th.
Also if anyone still cares…WMC is going to be the sanction of choice with no WBC to be seen any where. Most likely because WMC is a hell of a lot cheaper with sanctioning fees than WBC. Even though rankings WMC’s are nonsensical, seldom updated and they cannot afford to maintain their own website which seems completely gone now due to not renewing domain name.

I do admit that the online PPV was a disaster last year but the show did happen!! in fact there are many people who attended and can attest to that!!
- The fight will be held June 26, 2009 not July-get your facts straight!!
-As much as it may have been a seemingly impossible feat to get these 2 great fighters in the same ring, it has been done- The Carnage VS Spong fight will be ON!!
-Regardless of the rules or the removal of elbows or whatever, we should be lucky that they even agreed to fight each other!
-How about you attend the fight in Jamaica, see things for yourself, so that you can give blow by blow commentary for your blog?!! Even though I suspect that you will inevitably be the only person to be unmoved or unsatisfied, at least you’ll see that it isn’t hype, it isn’t plausible…but is in fact a delivery of what was publicized.

Welcome to MMT. I’m not skeptical of everything or everyone, just you and your event. Were you the one who was charged twice for the PPV and never saw a refund?
They came to me and asked if i could help promote the event i did….
When It came around to the actual PPV, it didn’t work. I sent a couple of emails explaining what had happended… did I recieve a response? Did I hear from anyone? I promoted the event on mutlitple occassions only to be left hanging in the end.

Mr.Nopstar is quite correct to be skeptical given the completely disappointing disaster of the online PPV, the excuses for losing after the event and the infighting with the promoter and RISARC.
How about one the noble promoters give Nop a front row seat so he can see how ell run the event is general and how honest and above board everyone is? I cannot see Nopstar turning away an opportunity to give his honest critique of the event ringside if RISARC, Clifton or whoever else is the relevant organizer grants him a press row pass and flight to see the event.
Well….this is a bit of a bump, but I’m wondering if anyone’s going to pay for this given the disaster the last time? I’d *really* like to see the fights, but I *really* don’t want to get raped in the wallet. :)
reidy racking on and it was a terrible feed. And I heard more than one horror story about billing. If you are going to market, market well and take care of your customers. Given the popularity of this blog they should at least try to make amends. its marketing 101.

From what i can tell Clifton and the other promoters for the event have put in alot of effort to make this happen. I didint know there were so many issues with the Ppv.
Especially seeing as how i planned on getting it since i cant make the fights this year. Ill talk to the promoters about it and see if they’ve made any changes.
It would be a shame to miss out and it seems like its all for a good cause so why not

#1 U and the organization you work for, robbed this man (and others including myself) of our money last year without offering any retribution.
#2 We are all entitled to our opinion and freedom of speech gives us the right to express it as we please.
#3 he’s actually doing you a freakin’ favor by even mentioning your event on his blog again this year after the treatment he received last year.
#4 he never said he doubted you….he asked whether or not we doubting it….read the last sentence and stop being an asshole just for the sake of being one.
#5 How about you do what Stack mentioned and send Nopstar a front row ticket to ur event, since you are so confident about it?
#6 Oh and Nopstar and this blog is the main reason why a lot of Muay Thai fanatics (such as myself) even found out about your event last year, and he is the main reason why a lot of us have found out about this year’s event so my opinion is that you should actually be bendin over for him instead of putting on that condescending act. Gratitude is never mandatory but it sure is appreciated.

The irony is that one of the principals involved still proudly has the link to that piece of shit online PPV in there signature signfiying a few things:
1. They’re so woefully out of touch that they don’t care or know that the web page is broken and has in fact no links to anything upcoming on them.
2. That they’re afraid that it’s likely truth that this entire Risarc thing is a means of laundering money for other purposes.
3. That they don’t give a shit about Muay Thai. Believe me is if RISARC could have a big mma event instead they would.
And before anyone goes too far RISARC is not and never was a charity.

Go to risarconline.com. In their own words they are a consulting firm. They have no public tax declarations about being a charity as required by US law and they are owned and operated in the USA. If they claim they are acting on behlaf of a Jamacia charity well it’s interesting that their status as charity is completely untrackable in the USA also.
That being said these guys took in a lot of money from online PPV buyers for istreamyoustream. When the goods failed to be delivered with quality or reliability and basically rendered the event into an unwatchable mess people wanted refunds. Justifiably so in my opinion. Not one person got an email back or a call back and their money evaporated into the mist.
When one pays for a product or service and they don’t get it OR a refund that’s basically being a thief. I mean not a single reply even by email happened. They got the money and that was the end of communication. So yeah they are not a charity or honest in my opinion.
By the way contrary to everything Brown said about pursuing a TV PPV and not an online PPV, the online PPV appears to be in the prep stages so I gues RISARC can line up suckers again and take their money a 2nd time.

I’m planning on attending this event, but after reading some of the comments, I’m having second thoughts. Beside the paper view fiasco, what happened last year? Was there any quality fights?

Just got back from Jamaica. Good show just way too long. By the way, I have seen my share of fights and I never heard kicks resonate like Anuwat’s. The show was way to long I and most of the crowd left after Anuwat’s fight. I missed the Yod fight. How did Yod do?
Yeah, the show was even hard to watch on PPV. It was sort of a disaster. There were black outs and the fashion show, it was poorly done but good fights.

I am very lucky indeed, I had great seats for $115.00 U.S. I’m just pissed that I missed the Yod fight. I heard he hit the stage at like 4am.
