About a month ago, I wrote about how Buakaw was going to be competing in the 2010 Japan S-Cup, Shootboxing being held Nov. 23rd.
Well it’s be confirmed that he is in fact taking parting the the 8 man tournament and that brackets have been set.
Buakaw will face Hiroki Shishido in the first round of the tournament. For those of you who are K-1 fans will know this isn’t the first time these two have met. Shishido is a decorated Shootboxing fighter who’s held various titles in his decade of competition.
Buakaw and Shishido met 4 years ago at K1 MAX Champions Challenge, where he was embarrassed badly. I’ve included the clip, be sure not to turn away, or you’ll miss the fight.
I’m sure you don’t walk away from an experience like without learning something about yourself. Fast forward 4 long years… what are you going to do differently this time around?
Personally I think Buakaw will still wreck him… yes its Shootboxing rules but I’m hopeful that white lotus can still put the hurt on him.
The second match up is Andy Souwer and Bovy Sor. Udomsorn… Souwer who’s one of the worlds best fighters and current S-Cup champion will be going up against MuayThai’s brawler. As much as I like Bovy, he’s got a giant mountain to climb. Souwer may be one the smartest fighters out there… he’s not going to get caught up in a toe to toe battle with Bovy. Bovy will march forward with everything he’s got eating lots of Souwers counter attacks.
I don’t know a lot about the other fighters, but I wouldn’t be surprised saw Buakaw vs. Souwer IV. Souwer is leading that one 2-1…
Predictions?

Anyone know what the catch weight for this tournemant is?
I always thought Shishido is a bit too small for k1 max.
Bovy’s probly not his best at 70kg either…

Bovy is way to small for Souwer- not good for the Arturo Gotti of Muay Thai.

Celtic-
Here are the rules… (http://www.shootboxing.org/en/rule/index.html)
(5) Valid Fighting Techniques
Punch: Straight, Hook, Upper, Back blow, Elbow.
Kick: Front Kick, Low Kick, Middle Kick, High Kick, Side Kick, Back Kick, Inside thigh-Kick, Jump Kick, Knee.
Throws : Neck-toss, Hip-toss, Judo throws, Back drop, suplex.
Standing Locks: Standing font neck lock.
Standing straight arm bar.
Unfortunately I don’t think Bovy is going to get past Souwer. It would be mental to see Krazy Horse and Bovy. I’d like to see Krazy Horse taunt Bovy, or try some crazy luchadore shit… Bovy would go mental like a wind up doll crush everything in his path… ref and all.
