Once again many thanks to Kimjudas.blogspot.com for ripping the broadcast. The whole MMT appreciates it. Anyway enough chit chat enjoy…
I was trying to eat dinner and watch this fight, wasn’t an entirely good idea. I think I’ve got a fair bit of indigestion from yelling like crazy person at the TV. I’m sure my neighbors are wondering what the hell Muh! means… for those of you who don’t habla the Thai it means hands. Like keep your effing hands up!
In the end I don’t think this was the most exciting fight, but it is what it is.

Good game plan working those abs like there’s no tomorrow. It’s got me motivated to see how many teeps I can throw next time I spar!
Also, I thought Nicky was a nak muay… didn’t look like he attempted one brush. I could understand it if Buakaw was a good boxer and you didn’t want to drop your hand, but it just seemed odd.
July 13, 2009 at 10:24 pm
i think he chose the right plan to simply neutralize holzken, but i have to agree that he takes an unnecessary risk by letting his hands down
July 13, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Wasn’t very watchable fight, but yes, Buakaw totally neutralized him in classic muay thai style. Still the man. An easy fight for him. That front-kick to the face was priceless.
July 14, 2009 at 12:25 am
His face when holzken falis that high kick is priceless :)

hey! buakaw showing a nice display of strategy and controlled aggression. it’s near impossible to believe a professional fighter doesn’t know how to defend a push kick, even if it’s buakaw’s. come on, man. lol.
July 14, 2009 at 2:25 am
Pretty boring fight, but it is what it is..
Nice and Good tactical fight from Buakaw, he figured Holzken out very quickly and didn’t give him a chance to unload.
HORRIBLE fight from Holzken, I realise you should be on your guard when you fight Buakaw but almost EVERYTHING Holzken did was bad, he fought way too slow, didn’t defend the front kicks, was way too predictable with his lack of combinations and his one punch at a time strategy, I think his whole strategy was to wait for the opportunity to catch Buakaw with one big powerpunch and ko him, wasn’t gonna happen though, even tho I preferred Buakaw I’m still dissapointed in Holzken.
July 14, 2009 at 6:15 am
wow buakaw sucks now
July 14, 2009 at 8:17 am
I agree with GorillaPalmz.
Buakaw is a smart fighter. Holzken has longer reach and is a dangerous fighter so Buakaw simply out-front-kicked him. Lol, like that expression.
But he won’t be able to use that strategy against Souwer or Petrosyan. Happy for him to be in the final 4.
July 14, 2009 at 10:09 am
I think there’s a BPP renaisance period!Dont you all think he’s realy good at the minute?I quite enjoyed watching him utterly dominate and simply toy with Holzken.
July 14, 2009 at 12:29 pm
Odd tempo to that fight, if you can call it a fight. I think BPP is super cautious now, he’s been rocked bad by Sato once, KO’d by Sato and then rocked by Dida. Its got to be playing on his mind now. He went out and did what he needed to do here, he was very controlled but I did not see much flair. There was the odd moment where he came alive, and the old MT super fluidity just pours out.
Holtzen was no challenge really, but I cant see BPP passing Souwer. He will not be allowed to be controlled and cautious in that fight, with Souwers aggression and work rate. Souwer will be at home now studying the whole BPP low gaurd weakness and he will have a strategy in place that he has been repping out in the gym every day. Typical Thai style, there will be no strategy, just go in with big heart and win. He cant beat Souwer with kicks and knees, he needs to knock him down or out. BPP’s boxing is too basic and over comitted to do that to Souwer. As soon as he opens up his hands, if he ever does, Souwer will expose BPP’s flaw. If BPP stays tight, he wont win it, although he may survive an embarrising defeat.
Its a shame really, I think BPPs days are over now. I think he hit the sweet spot in 2006, with the right balance of hands, legs, and general speed and power. Those days are gone and they are not coming back even though we all hope they wilI. I still think on balance he is the most complete fighter in max, with knees, kicks, evasions and throws that make up for the lack of boxing skill.
Just look at the difference btw BPP vs JWP 2 and Yod vs JWP. BPP made that look like a struggle, whereas Yod nearly outclassed JWP. Great fighter on the up and up vs. great fighter on the slide.
I hope everything I have said above is totally wrong. My heart hopes he can do it but my head says no.
July 14, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Nick1_S well put…..Buakaw’s my fav but he just seems so cautious and withdrawn these days no way can he topple Souwer with what he’s currently doing sad to see. Wish Kyshenko had won tho would’ve loved to have seen that matchup
July 14, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Well a lot of people said that Holtzken will upset Buakaw and beat him, some said even by a KO. None of that happened. Buakaw made him look lika an amateur fighter.
There are some valid point you guys made about Buakaw vs Souwer, and I agree that Buakaw’s game changed a bit. But you can’t count him out yet, he’s is still super strong, technical and dangerous. I believe that Por.Pramuk camp is aware that making a gameplan is necessary this time, and they will probably make one. At least one… I hope.
Btw, watching BPP vs JWP 1 or 2, I don’t see much difference there, just that Buakaw won both times decisively?
July 15, 2009 at 5:15 am
This fight was awesome! IMO Buakaw wins the whole shit! His technique is flawless. He beat this dude with a jab and a teep. We all know that he has much more in the arsenal. I also think that he will perform better as the matches get tougher. Souwer and Petrosyan are going to bring out the beast in him.
July 16, 2009 at 9:19 pm
wow buakaw didnt even do good compared to when he was in his prime. buakaw did not give holzken the proper beating for that stupid ass vest, entrance music, and hair cut.
July 16, 2009 at 9:20 pm
petrosyan is probably going to beat him. not bring out any beast.
July 16, 2009 at 9:20 pm
souwer could beat him now. which is unfortunate.
July 16, 2009 at 9:43 pm
May be Buakaw is just saving himself for the finals.
July 16, 2009 at 9:56 pm
He did what he had to do to win. Still boring.
July 16, 2009 at 10:43 pm
he sure has been saving the shit out of himself the last couple fights….
its a different story watching buakaw fight now. i worry about him getting beaten or knocked out. it was never like that before.
July 16, 2009 at 11:55 pm
Well back when he was convinced he could actually box good he did get KOed. And he’s not getting KOed now.
July 17, 2009 at 3:11 am
Maybe they should send Buakaw to work out with the Pacman – sad to see BPP decline like this. Any word on which thai they’ll allow to replace BPP once he moves on?
July 18, 2009 at 4:20 am
Maybe Buakow was hurt cause he’s only fighting from his left side. Left jab, teep, knee etc… I still love his technique and I firmly believe that he will rise to the occasion. The better the opponent, the better he seems to fight. Petrosyan will not be able to impose his will on BPP. Souwer is his only threat.
LMFAO at SE’s comment. Your right, he should have beaten that ass for that stupid haircut, music and vest.
July 19, 2009 at 5:01 am
“it’s near impossible to believe a professional fighter doesn’t know how to defend a push kick, even if it’s buakaw’s. come on, man. lol.” Tell that to Masato the first time he ever fought Buakaw…..lol.
lol @ SE’s comment too.
For everyone shittin’ or tryin to give Holtzken advice….Keep in mind that he has defeated some pretty decent fighters (Joeri Mes, Marco Pique, Diender and let’s not forget one of my favorite fighters……Lamsongkram). His performance was lackluster but let’s not forget who he was fighting…..BUAKAW!!!!!!!
Now for everyone shittin’ on Buakaw…..The Buakaw I have seen in this fight was the old Buakaw….not the 06…..but the 04…..The classic Muay Thai style with teeps, kicks and knees (and some hands).
The teep happens to be one of Muay Thai best and more important weapon….They were workin’ beautifully for him>>>he played a very technical fight.
For the Souwer nuthuggers saying things like “I cant see BPP passing Souwer”…I hope they were wearing their prescription glasses in ’06 when Souwer got KTFO. I don’t even wanna get into 07′s controversial loss. The win could go to either side…they are both great fighters….I will be rooting for Buakaw but I will wish Souwer good luck.
K1 World Max Final……………Petrosyan vs Buakaw!
July 24, 2009 at 8:44 pm
the whole fight was about bpp push-kicking + jabbing to prevent Nicky from closing the distance..and trying to sweep and score if possible…Nicky was still like the prev match they met, couldn’t answer to the never ending push-kicks…good plan…seems like Bpp has learnt smarter this tm…but push kick thru out the fight is so defensive…tt’s nt the bpp we wana see, isn’t it… spydaman, Petrosyan vs Buakaw-my bet is on Petrosyan…so technical…legs and hands..
July 24, 2009 at 8:45 pm
by the way…those who know Thai…anyone knows the title of Bpp’s entry song? sounds like Final Countdown…nicee…anyone knows the title?
July 24, 2009 at 8:46 pm
petrosyan will SMASH bpp
July 24, 2009 at 9:34 pm
WHAT? SE, your loosing your mind! No way petro smashes BPP. Petro might win but he won’t “smash” him.
Can’t wait to see that fight!
July 25, 2009 at 5:55 am
