Dutch fight fans had a pretty busy month… you guys get to have all the fun. Any of you out there make it two both shows? We’re going to start handing out merit badges soon.
Krup Jai, Souvik for hunting this down and sharing and many thanks to Gusnark for the upload. Enough chat chat enjoy…
Wow… what the hell was that? Gotta feel bad for him, that was straight up robbery. I had heard rumours that he was feeling burnt out and was looking to take sometime off. I’d have to think with a shit decision like this, plus feeling like your burnt… is going to be a hard one to snap back from.
Normally when Buakaw fights like shit, I’ll be the first to say it, I’m not on his nuts that bad… but he got straight jacked. I hope he picks himself up… I feel like he still has so much more to offer.
Oh and how bad is the announcer jocking Kraus? I think he referred to his model like looks a few too many times… Kieren was like whatever dude, and get your hand off my leg.

Not a good way to end the year. Poor decision.
December 2, 2008 at 8:12 am
Really bad decision. Buakaw was a bit lackadaisical, but I really liked the low kicks.
December 2, 2008 at 9:39 am
I wouldn’t say I am a buakaw nut rider either.. That was fucking terrible.
Tong.. how much more shit did he have to throw? Kicks, punches, knees, throws… That was ridiculous..
December 2, 2008 at 10:00 am
That was one of the most bullshit decisions I’ve ever seen. Kind of takes you back to when Don King ran boxing here in the US.
December 2, 2008 at 11:28 am
I was there, and i can tell u that noone in the crowd was amused!
Part of the crowd almost turned into a riot.
I don’t know what the hell is going on, slamm5 was bad, this is bad, Orono vs Faldir was bad.
After hearing from Simon Rutz(It’s Showtime) “hey, it’s IMFA, not my decision” i guess i heard enough. He couldn’t be more clear about it.
Also hearing alot of rumors in the gyms in holland about the entire thing stinking bad!!
Down to the bone it’s all about commerce
I’m gonna save my money on events the next year and see what happens because this is not good for the sport at all.
December 2, 2008 at 11:56 am
Straight up robbery.
December 2, 2008 at 3:32 pm
The commentator was Vinny Shoreman, a very well respected man in UK thai boxing society.
December 2, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Ok I would really like to hear someone defend that decision..I must be missing something..or maybe I don`t know enough about K1 rules. Buakaw was technical, controlled his opponent and used mroe weapons. Krauss (allr espect to the man) really relied on his boxing prowess.
It was sad to see him lose, but it was good to see the crowd treat him as a winner. He was the people`s favourite. The admiration shown to him by his fans was perhaps the silver lining in this
December 2, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Buakaw looks to have changed up his game a little bit. IMO he seems to be transitioning better with his hands and legs a little to suit k-1 style rules (before I found he would either punch or kick too much without the other to win under those rules).
Despite the robbery, I think it’s good to see he can still deliver; especially after his fairly lackluster year
December 2, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Buakow is still one of the best fighters in the world. I think Kraus should give it up or become a pro-boxer. He still doesn’t know how to block or throw a kick.
December 2, 2008 at 7:12 pm
The only way it could have gone to Krausse is if the judges only counted punches thrown. Utter crap!!
December 2, 2008 at 7:37 pm
It just sucks that the Thais that fought abroad over the weekend had to jump through hoops to travel due to the current situation in Bangkok and then they get robbed by the shady judging and sensitive medical decisions (slamm). I can imagine that Buakaw and Orono are frickin’ depressed now. lol. I am! Especially after Lamsongkram lost that fight to what looked like an accidental headbutt???
…bullshit!
December 2, 2008 at 7:47 pm
true, but Buakaw has a lot more reason to feel depressed, you can argue with the orono vs chabhari match in my opinion, a lot of faldir’s punches made good contact, and occasionaly his kicks, orono didn’t do any damage with his punches, his kicks were good but the sad truth with the K-1 rules nowadays is that punches count much more than kicks, I’m sure you guys won’t argue that. But I give props to faldir, he didn’t steal it in my opinion, should have been a draw but that’s not his fault
And I can’t figure out Kraus, you can see training videos with him on the internet or when he teaches fighters himself he CAN actually kick and make combinations he just doesn’t do it in his fights, lucky for him he gets wins with it, I would always give the decision in an even fight to the more real kickboxer, not the boxer
December 2, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Robbery Robbery, Krauss didnt deserve the win, come to think of it Both his wins against The Spirit were Doubtfull, I know he got Buakaw down on one knee in the first fight, but I must say Buakaw replied very aggressive and willfully. And as to Orono, he could have done more, not like Buakaw who did Enough.
December 2, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Buakow has no reasons to be depressed, except maybe for not getting the winners purse. He knows he won the fight!
December 3, 2008 at 12:04 am
dont care too much about buakaw or K1 anymore.
December 3, 2008 at 12:11 am
One of the most bullshit decision i’ve ever seen.
December 3, 2008 at 12:12 am
*decisions*
December 3, 2008 at 2:18 am
I agree with many of the above comments. I think that it could be argued that Faldir did more damage to Orono with his punches. A decision either way could be justified. However, I am completely shocked by the Buakaw decision. It must be due to some special K1 rules where you lose points by effective kicks and knees and partially blocked punches score big. I thought Buakaw looked much better than in his previous fights. Hopefully he will win decisively next time.
December 3, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I’m totally disappointed with Slamm 5. Up to now I wasn’t agreeing with the decisions, but after this fight, I’m pretty sure it was a completely robbery.
Kraus got victory but at least he won’t be able to walk straight for 2 months. Kraus, please buy a ticket and spend some time in Thailand to learn how to block!
December 3, 2008 at 11:06 pm
At least Kraus was classy about it.
December 3, 2008 at 11:11 pm
I really liked Buakaw’s style here, his performance was great. It’s so beautiful looking him doing his footwork.
On the other hand is just so frustrating to know that Buakaw flew 3 days to come to Netherlands, there’s almost a war in his country and now this funny decision.
Nothing against Kraus, but I hate seeing him lifting his hands up when he knows he lost.
December 3, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Anyone else think Albert looked so sure he had won that, smiling away as if he knew the decision already? I know fighters always raise there hands etc but deep down when they the ref calls it they look down as if they cant bear to know for sure.
I have seen him look more neutral after fights that were much closer btw him and Buakaw.
BPP didn’t do ‘that face’ he did when he lost to Masato iether. Looked ok really, not looking to his corner in desperation or disgust.
I see that he pulled his glove away from Kraus right at the end of the vid as if he did not want anything to do with him though.
Im not saying there was anything underhand going on, apart from an atrociuos decision. Just find their reactions all a bit odd thats all.
Good fight by both, better by BPP. So much more composed, varied and did real damage.
Am always amazed at fighters resilience to low/middle kicks once they reach a certain level. Those kicks would have cut me down in the 1st and I am twice the size of BPP, but them again im no pro! Kraus appeared to suffer a little, but not enough to keep him coming forward.
The most extreme example of this was Kalakoda vs Thopadak. The low kicks and sweeps were pouring in on Kalakoda for 5 rounds. Nr the end, he was getting swept so bad it looked embarissing. But Kalakoda kept coming forward, I just had this image of his trainer before the fight, injecting his thighs with PCP! Of topic I know, but hey
December 4, 2008 at 3:28 am
You down with the BPP, yeah you know me… WOW. i was utterly shocked when they came out with that decision..
December 5, 2008 at 12:42 am
What that was striaght Bull
I mean Buakaw is one of my favorite fighters but still from a Nak Muays perspective he won the fight hands down at least 2-1 rounds
They jacked him up

I really enjoy the website and check it every day for news and videos. Normally I don’t register at the websites I visit but after watching the Buakaw/Kraus match here and on YouTube I felt inclined to offer my 2 cents.
First, I thought Buakaw looked better in this fight than he had against Sato. Seemed to be lighter on his feet and had better ring movement. It was also nice to see him throwing low kicks and working the sweeps. However, it still bugs me that he leaves himself so open to uppercuts. If he could develop better head movement he would truly eliminate probably his current biggest threat; decision losses to better boxers that can regularly connect with combos. I also think his boxing defense was better in 2006 and early 2007 when he was more committed to working on his hands.
Second, Buakaw was fighting a former K-1 champ and a high caliber fighter in his own back yard. I could see hometown judging giving Kraus the first round although I would at best have scored it even. Second round, clearly Buakaw as the low kicks started taking their toll and slowed Kraus down. Third round I felt Buakaw started to cruise (probably thinking he had it wrapped up) and Kraus was more aggressive. I didn’t think Buakaw landed nearly as many low kicks as he had in the first two rounds and did not press the action. Kraus seemed rejuvenated (or desperate) and probably knew he had to take the last round in order to eke out a decision. In short, poor strategy from the Por Pramuk camp if the reigned Buakaw in and told him to play it safe, thinking the decision was theirs. Here’s a guy that has been struggling of late and is presumably trying to rebuild his image. It would have been nice to see him go for the stoppage. If he had done so I don’t think it would have been possible, even with the hometown judging, to give Kraus the win.

Anyone with eyes and a brain that hasn’t been completely screwed up from some form of mental abuse knows who won that fight, but on another note, does anyone think BPP has not been himself for a while now? I mean first they change the k1 rules about clinching, then they change the rules about punches been worth more than kicks, then if he is knocked down flash or slip he looses the fight, after a while that kind of stuff takes a tole on you, don’t you think?
