Some new’s on the front… it was announced yesterday that Buakaw Por. Pramuk would be making his shootboxing debut in this Novembers S-Cup tournament.

It’s unclear if he’s going to be participating in the tournament or if he’s going to be taking part in a superfight.  Their are a total of 8 spots in the tournement, 7 fighters have already been confirmed. (Andy Souwer, and Bovy) just to name a few.

I’d love to see Sombat back doing MuayThai, but he’s going to go where the money is… I wish him luck.

For those of you who don’t know, Shootboxing is a style of kickboxing that allows throws and standing arm locks !

  1. Shootboxing also allows certain standing neck subs. Interesting find! Buakaw did have a …”brief” encounter with former S-cup champion Shishido awhile back heh…it won’t be awesome till they announce buakaw donning the famous shootboxing tights.

  2. Correction Shishido was a runner up but did hold several other titles in the org.

  3. I see a “Double Bunkerd” in this photo. Bang baby!

  4. rockintako, are shootboxing tights like savate pants ?

  5. question is though, is buakaw actually gonna learn these new techniques like arm bars and chokes?

i would be surprised if he did.

  6. Haha, according to K-1fans both Buakaw and Andy Souwer are pissed with the way K-1 treats them, so they ended up leaving and K-1′s biggest competitor in japan-shootboxing picks both of them up.

    Win!

  7. wtf it seemed like the judges sucked souwers dick 24/7.

buakaw better watch out for souwers rear standing choke. LOL

  8. Sounds interesting. If he actually wears the pants, that would make it erotic.

  9. speak for yourself.

  10. Celtic – I’ve never seen savate pants up close , but if they’re long lycra spandex then yes they’re almost the same (I’ve seen Afew shootboxers use pants that suspiciously like speedo sharkskin they use in competative swimming.) one thing is tho they also slip on very thin and tight shinguards.

Taylor Mccorison – a former nak muay and professional mma fighter stationed in the bay area just recently had an outing in shootboxing which he documents on his YouTube channel NinjaPRD.

Wouldn’t it be such a mindf*ck if buakaw came out in sowers max 03 shootboxing pants just to cheese him off (the maroon/batman ones.)

  11. rockin- sorry about delay of reply but yes, they’re the same…savate tops it off w/ some nice dipped-foam kickboxing booties…a tie for worst “uniform” w/ satin kickboxing pants (complete w/ black belt )

for kicks ( no pun intended), check out nop’s previous post and or youtube savate… google the u.s. national savate team to boot (sorry, can’t stop myself)

just wondering why the hell japan can’t just stick w/ muay thai and stop w/ these goofy-ass hybrid events…if they applied the same drive to trad MT it’d be huge…

  12. Wasn’t the KOMA org in japan more geared towards Muay Thai rules, shootboxings been around for about 20+ years.

For me I think you can always (well maybe not as much these days) count on the Japanese martial arts scene your best bet to bring dream matches between past (Dekkers Givibg a young Ludwig a 9 minute private lesson anyone?) and present greats (JWP Sato and Buakaw were already fantastic nak muays but would the whole world have known that they were without those grueling 3 fight (w extra rd) one night extravaganzas K-1 max put on?) I know I had a he’ll of alot of fun watching them regardless of what whacky rules / judging we’re put in place.

or just count on some awesome matches that make no sense but bring a childish intrigue, wanna see Buakaw Sanchai and Yod fight a moose? Wanna see Orono to fight a Decorated Kyokushin vet in shidokan rules? No? Bet you most of us will still watch it, and they’ll both happen in Japan!

  13. dude…the recent chahid vs zambo K1 fight in seoul was muther fucking insane. so was sakis performance. hes on a rampage.

  14. i think the zambo/chahid fight was on of my favorite fights.

  15. Great news, always happy to see this muay thai master at his work.
Still don’t understand K-1′s decision for getting rid of Buakaw and Souwer as I don’t see any benefit in this, but hey, who cares for K-1.

  16. i dont care for their treatment of fighters or japanese organizations too much. but the latest fights from seoul[saki, zambidis, petro, ghita] have entertained the shit out of me. saki was a fucking beast. i cant say i love K1 but they have their moments and should be given credit for that. im still waiting for someone to knock the living shit out of semmy schilt.

  17. OMG I hope he doesnt wear the shootboxing pants

    I would want to cry

    so stupid
