Badr Hari vs. Semmy Schilt

May 17, 2009 by nopstar

Ok… I admit it’s a crap fight, but it’ll be cathartic for some. I promise to post some very good MuayThai for you these week.  The showtime guys in Holland put together a huge k1 show yesterday.  Here is nice recap of the events, huge lineup sort of the who’s who of European kickboxing and MuayThai.
Dennis Schneidmiller VS Chris Ngimbi
Imro Main VS Sem Braan
Ricardo Fyeet VS Rico Verhoeven
Perry Ubeda VS Sahin ‘Kaas’ Yakut
Aschwin Balrak VS Björn Bregy
Attila Karacs VS Rustemi Kreshnik
Brian Lo-A-Njoe VS Murat Direkçi
Faldir Chahbari VS Giorgio Petrosyan
Shane Campbell VS Joerie Mes

IT’S SHOWTIME World Title 65 kg MAX

Orono Wor Petchboon VS Hassan El Hamzaoui
Stefan Leko VS Melvin Manhoef
William Diender VS Gago Drago
Mourad Bouzidi VS Errol Zimmerman
Tomas Hron VS Daniël Ghita
Chahid Oulad El Hadj VS Andy Souwer
Ruslan Karaev VS Tyrone Spong
Sem Schilt VS Badr Hari

Orono wor. Petchboon was also on the card; I’m currently looking for it… if any of you find it please do pass it along.  Also many thanks to Gusnark for being our fight finder and sending these clips to me.

I actually wasn’t sure what the outcome was going to be…  Initially I would have said Hari without any reservations, but then I got a glimpse of his suspect chin.     To say the fight was a let down is a bit of an understatement.  I still enjoyed seeing Schilt get pummeled.  I know there are a bunch of you who hate Schilt as much as I do, so I thought this fight would brighten your world just a little bit.

you talk about a ’suspect’ chin and post a link to badr fighting a steroid infested overeem?

    wow

  3. Sagat on May 18th, 2009 3:33 am

^ really? You mean that Mixed Martial Artist who BEAT one of K-1’s best and got screwed out of an extra round against their champ? K-1 is a joke. Overeem had to KO both of em to win. It’s so corrupt.

not sure i agree about Badr’s chin, as it’s not like he hasn’t taken tons of good shots and not gotten knocked out before, but nevertheless it was indeed nice to see Schilt get pummeled :)

The crying about Overeem is hilarious. He got whooped by punches by a guy that sucks at punching.

I also enjoyed the pummeling of Dutch Frankenstein Monster.

overeem owes 50% of that KO to steroids

I dont know what I prefer more, Hari getting knocked out or Shcilt??? I dislike Both, but Respect their results in the K1 Freakshow. But still Badr “The Psyco” Hari og Semmy “The akward Giant” Shcilt?? Either outcome would have pleasede me. Whas that Hari´s Dad or Grand Dad that rushed up in the Ring, Nice :-D Cool, Must be proud that his Son/Grandson? beat up such a Big White Dude he he.

Is it me or Badr looks way more in shape now?

Hari’s suspect chin? If you really look and think about it, it was Overeem’s KNEE that did Hari in by far, Overeem is known to have some of the best knees in the business, and the reason Hari got dominated was because of his overwhelming arrogance in that fight, you can see it before and during the fight, he didn’t have a game plan of any sorts and paid the price, that being said props to overeem, he did good.

Nice to see Schilt getting KO’d, guess Hari saw that Peter Aerts’s tactic of going in fast and throw big long shots at the giant’s head was the best move, and Schilt just was too slow for Badr.

But I’m looking forward to the other fights more, like the fights of Orono and Petro.

Badra Hari is my boy! LOVE him! I actually got to see him fight in Tokyo this past December…

as much as I love training Muay Thai and watching K-1 Max, I think this kickboxing match was total crap.

I rather watch any Mike Tyson or Mohammad Ali heavyweight boxing match over these K-1 Heavyweight fights.

    damn. good for badr.

  13. nopstar on May 18th, 2009 4:34 pm

Danm… I knew I would catch some shit for the suspect chin comment.

  14. Kaonieoh on May 18th, 2009 5:41 pm

Correction : Its Orono Wor Petchpun vs Warren Stevelman… I feel like a smartass. Sorry.

    Eh, what would you expect?

  16. SE on May 18th, 2009 7:39 pm

i love seeing big/slow guys that arent used to getting hit just get railed on by a strong nimble fighter. it works time and time again. fedor has done it many times.

  17. xamarceaux on May 18th, 2009 9:01 pm

That was a waste of my time, I could have been working.

  18. Sagat on May 18th, 2009 11:19 pm

“The crying about Overeem is hilarious. He got whooped by punches by a guy that sucks at punching. ”

He got jobbed out of a round agaisnt a guy who is a kickboxing practicioner only. Overeem works on all different aspects and was jobbed. You’re such an elitist it’s ridiculous. Did you know Overeem didn’t even have a fight plan? He just bullrushed K-1’s best and should have gone to another round. Says a lot about your sport.

  19. Stack on May 19th, 2009 12:23 am

Did you know Overeem sucks and always sucked. Even his own trainer said he was too slow for kickboxing.

Overeem got out punched by a garbage puncher. It’s not anyone’s fault but his own that bumrushing was his only tactic. And the only reason it was effective it partially smothered Bonjasky until he was broke up. Says a lot about your sport.

  20. war_neungsiam on May 20th, 2009 12:47 am

hahaha@catching shit about the suspect chin comment ;)

sometimes i like Badr’s bad attitude, sometimes i don’t, but i always love to watch him fight. this, however, was far from his best showing. don’t get me wrong, he got the job done, but it was essentially a wild drunken streetfight. that being said, i don’t see me out there knocking out Schilt, so i should shut up.

  21. spydaman on May 20th, 2009 6:27 am

I’m gonna say this, Overeem did beat Hari. Nobody can argue that, we’ve all seen the fight and I can personally not take anything away from him. Now bare with me, as I said I’m not taking anything away from Overeem but can u honestly tell me that you think overall Overeem is a better striker than Hari or Bonjasky the two top seeds of K-1??Matt Hughes submitted Royce Gracie…That doesn’t make him a better grappler!!

btw……It’s a known fact that Bonjasky’s hands SUX donkey balls….lol!

  22. Stack on May 20th, 2009 6:49 am

Pretty much Spyda. The guy punches like a spastic girl and it was still enough to beat Overeem even with the obvious roid abuse.

  23. xamarceaux on May 22nd, 2009 4:57 pm

Actually, Spyda …Matt Hughes TKO’d Royce Gracie.

  24. SE on May 22nd, 2009 8:31 pm

    matt hughes is a cracker
