Aukmen – Trailer

March 24, 2008 by nopstar

Ok Muay Thai friends, hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. I took full advantage of the long weekend here and spent a little time in Barcelona. If there are any of you from Barcelona you’ve got a pretty badass town.

There’s a new flick for us coming out… I covered this a while back, it stars Somruk, Kaoklai, Apidej Sit-Hirun et al. It looks… well like a Muay Thai action flick. It sounds like someone was a bit over anxious with the shitty sound board. Seriously though… isn’t there anyone sitting around post production wondering why this sounds like a 70’s Kung Fu Flick?

You can read up on the plot and learn more about the actors at the official Aukmen site.

I’m sure Fairtex kicked in a fair amount of seed money for the movie, might explain the over the top product placement.

Anyway, if any of you guys get to watch this before me drop me a line. Would love to get a review from you.

I’m sorry man but this looks so jank. Based on a true story? Really? Wasn’t there the same story/movie about a French fighter a few years ago. He goes to gym, he is not wanted.. he becomes ultimate bad-ass… blah blah.

Uggghhh.. And yeah, the sound effects and Fairtex logos cement this one in cheeeeessseeee….

Cool to see Apidej though.. Hope he got str8 paid for bein such a p.i.m.p.

    erm … kinda cheesey

  3. souvik on March 25th, 2008 4:45 am

    … this can’t be good.

  4. Horc on March 25th, 2008 5:21 am

It sounds like I’m watching a Street Fighter video game…

Speaking of which I think SF4 is coming out :D

  5. Spydaman on March 25th, 2008 5:34 am

Looks cheesy….reminds of the movie “ChokDee”. Sound effects are whack…Im pretty much repeating what everyone else has been saying so far but still, knowing myself…..I will still watch it just because it’s about Muay Thai. The good news is, it can’t be any worst than “Dynamite Warrior”…..trust me!…..it can’t!!!
Oh I did hear about SF4….can’t wait!!

  6. Horc on March 25th, 2008 6:22 am

Well at least we know Chok Dee was about Dida Diafat. So who is this movie based on? Since it’s supposed to be based on a true story.

  7. Spydaman on March 25th, 2008 6:37 am

Horc, the main character’s name is Ahmad Rashid Al-Sulaiti and the movie is “supposed” to be based on him.

  8. Shadyeskimo on March 25th, 2008 8:55 am

I like Spyda, will also see it just because its about Muay Thai. I saw Chok Dee too and It was Ok, not great, and oh Yeah Dida beat Dekkers once i think. Never heard of the dude in the movie”’? Of course its nice to see Kaoklai, who turned me on to muay Thai(when I was wondering what I thought to the best martial art for ME) with his Super (Lucky) Kick against Mighty Mo in K1. Soundeffects? I hope they only appear in the Trailer, Ha ha.

    Too cheesy

  10. Tong Po on March 25th, 2008 9:57 am

Looks cheesy, the sound effects are from 3 decades ago. Too much Fairtex promotion. I would watch it. Good to see Apideh there! Someone should do a movie on him.

  11. Nae on March 25th, 2008 10:41 am

Damn that’s alot of paint on that canvas. I could make the same movie about myself. Anyone that goes to thailand to train/fight could say this is about them.

  12. Anonymous on March 25th, 2008 11:51 am

I don’t think there were enough Fairtex logos in that trailer

  13. KoolGuy on March 25th, 2008 11:52 am

the lady ” if u wan to make monney, u have to fight in a veal ving” lmao hahaha “Boom” “bang” “pow!” hahahahahahahahaHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHhhahahahahahhahaha

  14. Rockintako on March 25th, 2008 1:35 pm

“based on a true story” by that logic ong bak is based off of the day i missed the muni in the TL.

  15. SLAYER on March 25th, 2008 1:50 pm

    Stuuuuuupid.

I agree with those who said the sound effects are horrid. I’m punched a lot of guys in the face, and never once has it sounded like me dropping a cue ball on concrete.

  16. greg on March 25th, 2008 5:46 pm

LOL… one of his trainers is a trainer in ChokDee too, I think. I enjoyed it Chok Dee, despite the poor dubbing, because for the most part it looked real. From what I see in the trailer, Aukmen looks pretty fake all the way.

  17. jake on March 25th, 2008 5:55 pm

the only thing better than the acting is the sound effects.

never back down, muay thai style.

  18. Kote Lor Loi on March 25th, 2008 7:56 pm

I got 3 words…WHat…The…shit? That was really painful to watch. I couldn’t even make it all the way through the trailer…The star is an abahng?? That is terrible. I can honestly say I will not be watching this, ever. I am boycotting this. I thought muay chaiya was a really good movie!! Based on a true story that is truly not real at all…On a lighter note, I agree!! CANT WAIT FOR SF4!!!! It’s going to be sickness!!! salaam!

  19. Dii Mak on March 27th, 2008 12:55 am

Is there an emerging market for muay thai movies with bad-ass indian dudes? Sorry if the guy is not indian but he seems like he might be. Agree with Nae, could be any farlang in Thailand..

I was on a Singapore Air flight a few months ago, and there is a nice selecion of international movies ( I usually go for Korean first, Japan or HK second — as the movies are usually dope) and there was a movie with and indian guy all dressed up like Ong Bak style. Arm bands, head band, roped up hands and forearms. I couldn’t stomach to watch it though..

So maybe they are making this movie just to cash in somewhere?

  20. Benny on March 27th, 2008 11:51 am

I think pretty much anyone could make such a movie in their garden with a few friends if fairtex gave them enough crap… I know i can find those sound effects online.

  21. BiiggDDD on March 31st, 2008 3:17 pm

sounds effects suck, but this movie looks badass

  22. SE on April 7th, 2008 5:20 pm

spyda i have to disagree with u again thinking that kaoklais kick against mighty mo was luck. if u watch his fight against hong man choi he did the exact same thing. but hong man weighs is a 400lbs monster and not some fat guy. kaoklai has an awkwrad style but hes accurate with his flying kicks if u wtahc his fights

  23. SE on April 7th, 2008 5:22 pm

    ^^^^^^^

haha i guess it was shadyeskimo who said that. the above comment was not directed towards u spyda. haha
