So by the time this post goes up I would have already been in Thaiand for a week or so.  I’m heading to a bunch of camps, Sitsongpeenong, Sitmonchai, Kiatphontip et al.  I’m hope to get some good footage.  Our man Matt is scheduled to be fighting at Lumpini in the next couple of days so I hope to get some good footage of that.

One of the camps that I’ll spending time at is in Kanchanburi.  Matt and Michael from MuayThaiCamps.com have been living there for a bit.  One of the ’s fighters is Art Asanee.  I saw him a while back when I visited 13 coins.  He looked vaguely familiar to me but I just couldn’t place him.  Abs, later told me that Asanee played the lead role in “Beautiful Boxer”, the life story of Nong Toom.

He was great it in the role.  This clip is your friday motivation.  His kicks are monstrous… he throws everything behind them… happy friday, have a great session today.  Many thanks to Mike from MuayThaitTrainingcamps for posting this.

  1. my buddy just got back from sitmonchai – he said it was a blast, absolutely loved it.

pornsaneh and yodkhunpon kick the same way although pornsaneh was kicking that way at 13 coins too. thepnimit kicks a little more conventional like, keeping his support leg planted.

good ol’ youtube, making me feel like i really know what im talking about :D

  2. Nop,

This may be too late by the time you read this.. just wondering what he is up to these days. That was a great movie performance and he seemed to get a lot of kudos… is he still acting? fighting? bigger fights because of that role?

He seemed to have a lot of talent in the acting realm, but would not be that big of a surprise for it to not really go farther in thai movie scene… (well.. at least judging by the normal crop of thai horror and comedy flicks that come out each year..)

  3. DiiMak,

Asanee is still fighting. He fought last month in Chang Mai, he lost on points. I think it was because he didn’t train that hard. He still fights pretty regularly including bouts at Lumpinee. He also is still doing acting bits. I believe that he is currently working on some sort of dance fair that will be happening in mid may in Bangkok.

He also has a pug dog that is very fat and loves him dearly.

  4. Looks like age is catching up with him…

Asanee or Sehmok as i knew him was actually my trainer at lanna gym back in 2001, that’s how i ended up at Sitmonchai in 2002. He has unbelievable speed and technique and was very good at teaching. Sad thing was like many he really didn’t like MT, he’s been in it for a looonnnnggggg time and fought for the lumpinee title when he was young but never quite made it. I was hoping the acting would take off for him but i keep hearing about him fighting so maybe not. Thanks for posting, seriously hoping to get back to Sitmonchai this year.
