Buakaw

Well, well, well it’s the return of the White Lotus!  For those of you who haven’t been paying attention.  Por Pramuk aka the White Lotus fought on last night’s S-Cup championships.  The S-Cup is the championship tournament for Shootfighters.

It’s an 8 man tournament; some notable fighters participating were returning champion Andy , and Bovy Sor. Udomson.

I honestly didn’t think it was going to happen but it looks like Buakaw pulled it off.  For an in-depth review of the fight and results, head over to Head Kick Legend.

This is a huge win for Buakaw, after K-1 there was a lot of speculation about his future and his place on the fight scene.  I think the only shoot fighting match I’ve ever watched was the Bovy/Umeno fight.  I guess we’re going to be watching some more in the next year.   Ultimately I would prefer to see Buakaw fighting MuayThai, but I’m happy for his success, I’ll continue to support him wherever he fights.

Apparently Andy was eliminated by a Toby Imada a late replacement for Krazy Horse.  Imada a Bellator fighter was apparently using throw effectively against Souwer.  This is a huge loss for Souwer, as he’s reliably flawless.

Buakaw won decisions over Shishido and Henri van Opstal to earn his place in the Finals against Imada.  Buakaw made Nakmuays the world over proud as he apparently cut Imada down with leg kicks.  He took the match by 2nd round TKO.  Many thanks to Baggy of the k-1 fans forums for posting these pictures.

  1. Nice! Looking forward to watching the fights.

Other results from the fight card:

Andy Souwer defeats Bovy Sor. Udomson via TKO in the 3rd round. Souwer then lost to Imada due to a split decision.
Imada defeats Umeno via KO in round 3
Buakaw’s first fight, Win via decision over Shishido

  2. Buakaw doesnt look like he’s had a carb since 1984!!hahahaha

  3. It might not be the right place to leave this comment, just tell me if so.

I would like to print one of the photograph [20101123249.jpg] on photo paper to put it on my wall as some kind of motivational poster. I usually do it with the photographs i find for free on the web, but the resolution is always to low. Is there a way to buy it ? To what agency/photograph ? (Usually the source is not mentioned)

    Thnak you.

  4. machinchose-

As I mentioned in the post, a k-1 fans forum user “baggy” uploaded them. Not sure where he got them.

As always if you guy from the clips to these… please feel free to post them.

  5. Now i can stick it to all the metrosexual Japanese K-1 fanboys who dislike Muay Thai style fighters on the forums…

Looks like Thais CAN handle a few extra throws and standing submissions in the clinch, they HAVE been fighting in the clinch range all their lives haven’t they???? A few extra tricks wont make a difference when you can’t handle the high powered knees that are coming at you….

These rules are a better fit for Buakaw…

What’s even funnier is it was the KICKBOXERS who had problems with the MMA FIGHTER’s throws! Look who lost! hahahahaha.

  6. @Tibun

Buakaw has a unique clinch style in the first place that is more physical and not as technical as many Thais. Really the ability to just dump guys as often and more violently while scoring points is picture perfect for Buakaw. Watch footage of him training clinch and you will see what i mean. Plus how hard is it to learn a standing rear choke? I don’t think Buakaw is stoppable in this sport I hope this prompts some Muay Thai promoters to start booking Buakaw at the ridiculous prices his managements sets So we can see some good fights out of him before he retires.

  7. Man, as mentioned above, I’ve seen Buakaw cut up pretty well before but his cuts are unreal in those pictures. And what the hell was his opponent doing in the third large picture? That’s quite a unique shot!

Good for the white lotus. It was disappointing to see his decline over the last couple years. As with everyone else on this site, I’m rooting for him to find his niche and fight successfully for years to come.

  8. (without wanting to get slated so il tread carefully), just based on looking at these photos Buakaw looks like hes on gear!!Im not trying to say he is but he looks ridiculous in these flix!

  9. it’s Japan, who isn’t on the PEDS there??? :D

  10. Sombat is back…. Whoooooooo

Does anyone know the fight weight for this?

  11. Tibun -true dat!!!

  12. Manant: Buakaw appears more ripped in these pics because they are HDR (look it up).
Yodchai: The limit was 70kg. At 69.3kg, Buakaw was the second lightest in the tourney. Souwer was 70.0, Bovy 69.9 I think…

  13. I found more pictures from the event of of yahoo japan. To save translation and all that hoo haa I made a sideshow enjoy…

  14. I love pics where his kicks are captured..his form and intensity is both graceful and violent to behold. I think anyone just starting out and wanting to learn kick technique should def study him..I often watch some vyoutube vids at work before i go train…and his karaoke skills ain bad either=)
