Interview with Zach Khan

The other day I got an email from Zig Zach that he had just arrived in town and would be around for a couple of days. I think great, maybe it’s time to do the first ever interview on MyMuayThai.com

Well the other week I made mention of a sportswriter who’s probably been to more Muay Thai fights then any of us put together. It turns out Rob Cox has been working on s little side project of his own Muay Thai Focus.com

Let the Push begin!

So it’s no secret that the folks at the IMF and WMC have been lobbying for this for a while. It looks like they’re coming down the marketing home stretch. One of the primary goals of the WMC since it was established in 1995 was to get Muay Thai into the Olympic Games.

The committee has been trying to drum up support internationally for quite some time. The world championships are a direct result of this effort. Read more

Devid Lookmahanak

Last week Devid Lookmahanak faced off against WBC lightweight boxing champ Jorge Arce in Mexico.

Arce (49-4-1, 37 KO) was the heavily favored fighter coming into the bout. No one thought Devid, (18-1) would make it past the first round of the bout. In the middle of a bull-fighting arena in front of a 18,000 hostile fans Lookhamanak went the distance. Read more

Rule Changes at Lumpini

I don’t know if you guys have heard… but a few weeks ago they made some fairly big changes to the clinching in Lumpini.

From what I understand, fighters can continue to grab opponents from the shoulders up. Knee’s have to be scoring knees not just slaps to the opponents thighs. Clinching the waist and “Bear Hugging” will immediately be broken up. Fighters will have 3 second to land scoring knees otherwise they will be broken up. Read more

Wuthidej Lookphrabat

Wuthidej pronounced (woo-ti-date) is widely regarded as one of the best pound for pound fighters in Thailand today. His introduction to Muay Thai came, when he won his first fight at a small temple fair at the age of 9.

Some 18 years later the now 122 lbs. Wuthidej has amassed over 200+ fights. He was named “The best Muay Thai Fighter of 2007″ by all three major organizations; Sports Writers Association of Thailand, Siam Sport Daily and Sport Authority of Thailand. Just last week Wuthidej claimed the Prince’s Cup. Read more
