Where’s My Ticket!
February 29, 2008 by nopstar · 40 Comments
Um… I’m not going to panic yet, but my ticket to slamm hasn’t come yet. Until I get them in my grubby hands I’m going to be a little anxious.
Anyway, I’ll just have to print out my email receipts and hope for the best. Otherwise I’m going to be posting how awesome it was outside the stadium…
Payap, has once again posted pics of Thai’s training in Holland. Many thanks, to payap for sharing with the rest of us. Read more
Yellow Card from Dave

So while we’re on the subject of David Pacquette… last night I had the opportunity to meet him. I told him I thought it was good fight, but he didn’t have much to say about it.
Most of the people at the gym know that he’s involved in The Contender Asia, but haven’t seen any of the show.
My impression from the other fighters is they know he wasn’t happy with his performance but haven’t seen his fight.
He was teaching, rather yelling at an earlier class. He was really pushing them hard. There was a point where he was giving them a pep talk …” You need to see what you’re made of! Push yourself, this is the last round and your down on points!” I couldn’t help think that his mind still wasn’t on that last fight. Read more
Contender Asia Episode 6
February 26, 2008 by nopstar · 63 Comments
So I’ve got some good news and some bad news to report on. I’ll start off with the bad. For the past couple of days I was having problems uploading Episode 6 onto stage6.com. I went on to the site and to my surprise instead of seeing the home page, a note saying they were closing shop welcomed me.
So as of Thursday they are shutting down for good. So it leaves us without a good video solution. If any of you know of anything else comparable to stage6 let me know.
Know for the good news, I’m still going to be posting episodes of the Contender Asia. I’m going to be chopping them up into 3 chapters and hosting them on DailyMotion. I know the quality isn’t going to be nearly as good, but until we find a replacement this is the best we’ve got.
I’m not entirely sure how to hide the thumbnail in the videos so your going to see who’s fighting… sorry this is something I’m going to have to work on. Read more
5 Days until Slamm

Some of you may have already seen this, it’s a great watch. Props to Mark and FightGeek for sharing this with us. Mark where you at?
It’s sort of a long promo produced by the folks that bring us Slamm. It’s really well done and a good watch. Slamm is this coming Sunday and I’m getting pretty psyched. It will be by far the best Muay Thai ticket I’ve ever been to.
Part I
Still haven’t heard from the folks from Slamm so I’m not sure if I’ll get an “access”. I was toying around with getting a video camera, do the whole hand held thing, but the footage is always so bad. Read more

The last time we saw him in action was against JWP a few months back. Big Props to Luckycharms for the swift upload.

Matt’s Fight in Pattaya
February 22, 2008 by mattlucas · 44 Comments

As you might remember a few posts back I told you I caught up with MMT member and friend Matt Lucas. He was busy training for a his fight in Thailand. I got this email a few days ago… enjoy.
Max in Pattaya
By Matt Lucas
I got to the gym at 3 o’clock. When I turned up the other fighters were getting ready to go on the afternoon run. I changed my clothes and sat around until Bu told me to come to the matted area. He slathered me with boxing liniment. The liniment is made primarily of menthol and smells peculiarly minty. It acts like icy hot and made me feel like a red hot peppermint. I shadow boxed a little and then was told to eat. I’d brought some noodles from the store and ate them while I sat around with Bpee and Duolong who were also fighting that night. We all watched Popeye cartoons. They were funny with their bad Thai translations. It’s nice to know that Thai people enjoy the antics of Bluto and Popeye as well.
At 6pm we took off in the minivan that Ingram rents when there is a fight. I took a window seat so that I could sleep on the way to Pattaya. We arrived at the Fairtex Tepparist stadium at 7pm. We stood outside the entry gate to look at the various posters. Rafik, from the recent Contender show was on one, and there was a huge poster of Naruepol, also from The Contender Asia. Near the ticket booth was a poster with my white mug on it. Read more
