If you mean slipped by 1. getting a jump knee and then getting punched in the face slips so be it.

In K-1 he just got punch KOed by a fighter who’s never boxed once.

Kalakoda is there because of his connections not because he is a good boxer (he isn’t).

In regards to Maeda he will have good company as I now understand In Jin Chi is on his way. In Jin Chi was a bonafide good boxer but he’s so past it and beyond his normal weight class it isn’t even funny.

“Beating kickboxer at boxing doesn’t make you much of a boxer…” I the world of K-1 it does bring me back to my first point, Kalakoda’s got some of the best boxing in K-1. If you out box some of the best kickboxers in K-1 that would make you a bad boxer? he may not be a great boxer in the boxing world, but in the world of K-1 he is to say the least a good boxer. Which goes to show how important your hands are, However as a thai boxer Kalakoda Suck’s ass and would get dropped in a minute against an average fighter in thailand.

Hiroyuki Maeda is a better boxer than Kalakoda
but in those fights Kalakoda was giving almost as well as he was getting. In the first fight allot of those knock downs were slips but I see what you mean! I wonder how Hiroyuki Maeda will adjust to K-1 as he gets more exp.

Kalkoda never actually fought anyone that was ranked beyonf 50th in the world. That’s a matter of public record.

Beating kickboxer at boxing doesn’t make you much of a boxer especially when in K-1 a former feather weight boxer drops you 7 times consecutively in the same fight.

If you want to ignore how poor of boxer Kalkoda is despite what his fights show then that’s on you.

you absolutely right Kalakoda’s boxing record it’s all to great the people he’s fought aren’t really competitors at all just dummies with gloves on. Every time Kalakoda has fought someone with a decent record he has lost to them.

But to judge the man based on his record alone is a fallacy. The fantastic work he has put out in K-1 is a testament to his boxing skills, his fight against Andy Souwer, Albert Kraus, Buakaw, Ole Laursen and the list goes on, proves Kalakoda can box. and if you just don’t see that then thats on you.

Respectfully, Virgil is NOT a good boxer. He’s average and a journeyman. Why do you think he went to K-1? There is no other plausible answer than that his father’s K-1 connection getting him in.

His first ten opponents had no more than 10 wins of those opponents 5 of them had zero wins. That’s right zero. I am not making that up.

Further into Virgil’s record you can see that NONE of them had a greater than 50% win ratio and the vast majority of those are with very sparse competition to put it kindly.

Calling Virgil a fringe contender is really putting it kindly.

-Stack he’s a good boxer, if you look at his fight with Andy Souwer in 2006 he was pretty much taking Souwer apart with his hands. At the end of the fight Souwer’s face was cut and swelling.When he fought Buakaw in 2006 they went into a extra round. In that extra round Kalakoda was landing cleaner shots then Buakaw, and was on the verge of knocking Buakaw out. As far as his boxing record goes he’s got 25 wins and 4 loses. He is 2001 IBC Light middleweight champion, 2002 IBF Inter-Continental light middleweight champion, and a 2002 WBN Inter-continental light middleweight champion (boxrec.com) so Kalakoda’s got some good boxing.

Kalakoda’s big problem is his stance, he doesn’t use his feet much, and he’s got a glass chin. That why this guys is always getting picked apart, when your legs go out, your body and your Head will follow. I know Kalakoda won’t be K-1 max champ but it’s a pleasure to watch him box.

By the way I though these finals were great, every fight was worth watching they were technical and very exciting.

Tong po: altough I believe Kyshenko has tremendous upside, I wouldn’t say he’s the next big thing yet, I would like to see him fight against the likes of Yosdaenklai and Petrosyan, I don’t think he has what it takes to beat those 2(YET)

He was very impressive against souwer and masato though, although I wasn’t impressed by souwer’s activeness.

Kalkoda sort of got grand fathered into K-1 by his dad who was a coach for Mike Bernardo and Jan Norte. Membership has it’s privleges.

Kalkoda is no great shakes at boxing and could barely be considered a fringe contender by any standard. He got his break in K-1.

The funniest moment with Virgil is watching him get repeatedly dropped repeatedly by another former boxer from Japan who was a former feather weight and new to K-1.

God I really hate K-1. It was tolearble and even enjoyable for a time but I cannot even make it through a full viewing of any of their events these days.

Holzken is pretty damn good, but I like Kyshenko as the next best thing!
