Bobb Sapp Vs. Peter Aerts
As always many thanks to WeloveKamatari for the upload. So let’s get the feeblest footage out of the way first. Not much really to say here except Sapp is a completely feeb.  Are you kidding me? You call yourself a professional fighter?  I swear to god he’s getting paid way too much bank.  I love how the spectators are pelting him while he;s in the ring.
I would have also crumbled to Aert’s knee but I also weigh a buck sixty and I’m a big puss. I keep watching to footage to see the blow, and it appears he barely got a knee on him. Bob Sapp is what’s wrong with K1, its all style over substance with K1 (Heavyweights).
I know Bob Sapp is huge in Japan, and he sells tickets… It’s becoming more apparent that K-1 is interested in promoting sideshows rather than fights. By the way any of you guys speak Dutch? I would be interested in hearing what Peter had to say. It was probably along the lines of …”Bob Sapp just sucked it, peace out bitches”

That was one of Sapp’s worst performances- and he has had a quite a few. What the fuck happened? All respect to anyone who gets in the ring, but that shit was ridiculous. Max throws in some former champion boxers from waaay back, and I don’t like that either. This is what keeps K-1 from being seen as a top notch fight sport.
K-1, like other fighting shows, (UFC, Pride, King of the Cage etc.) are capitalist businesses that are seeking to cater to a mass clientele rather than an elite bougerosie. You can’t get a couple rich people to sponsor your business anymore like a royal court painter. The way the business is set up, especially a business firmly planted in the entertainment/tertiary sector of the economy, must appeal to the spectactor/spectacle relationship that people have with society.
Sapp, like many other fighters is a freak. He looks like someone packed a ton of gravel into the body of a corner street thug, plus he’s black.
Sapp than offers us up an example of commodity fetishism. Fetishes sell tickets. Its doubtful that K-1 (like other fighting sports leagues) will become a “top-notch” sport not because the fighters won’t get better but because the nature of the market demands a high audience base. That means occassionally throwing in a freak to appeal to a new niche in the market. Of course there are other tactics for making money off the fighters; reality shows, commercials, sponsorships.
Anyways while we are fans of these leagues, they are businesses, and act in a capitalist manner. That immensely influences their decisions as to who fights who, where, why, and how, and unfortunately that is the way these things work.
Sapp, like many other fighters is a freak. He looks like someone packed a ton of gravel into the body of a corner street thug,(plus he’s black.)
PLUS HE IS BLACK.
HUM WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ? BEING BLACK HELP YOU LOOK MORE LIKE A THUG ON THE STREET CORNER?
you could have made your point without that extra comment. we all know he is black we have eyes.
Strong-Boy
I interpreted (“Plus he’s black”) as Sapp’s added marketability and appeal in the Japanese market.
Maybe he meant big black and beautiful
(Maybe he meant big black and beautiful)
really hahahahaha
is sapp sexy hahahahaha.
Hey listen I am just busting his chops.
It was just wierd when I read it, but it’s actually a whatever comment.
It’s not really offensive.
but the comment can viewed in multiple ways

I know what you mean about marketablity to the japanese market.
uggg
Sapp really stinks. Aerts should have at least toyed with him for a round to make it interesting. I think Rambong should fight him next. Now that is marketable. In reality, Sapp should stick with tuff man competitions and county fair side shows.
Nopstar is right, I noted the obvious (that Sapp is black) to highlight his added marketability. I think its a mistake to pretend that ethnicity/race aren’t involved in business descisions in the fighting world.
So are you saying that black people are more marketable than other races (in Japan)??? Also…you should have elaborated a little better on that comment, because someone who is not black may understand what you are saying, but someone who is black might just see it as a racist or offensive comments (but let’s not turn this into a racial issue).
Back to the subject at hand, the fight sucked….the fight looked fixed (even though I’m sure it wasn’t), but that’s how unbelievable it looked. That knee had no momentum…no hip thrust, he didn’t even hit him with the point of the knee, he hit him with the top part, partially the thigh. Ernesto Hoost must be furious (he’s 0-2 vs Saap). Remy beat him, Cro Cop beat him……this dude sux ass, all that weight for nothing…it’s become known that he’s weakness is his liver, do some sit ups and obliques, U WASTE OF A PAYCHEK!!!
ps:…I can’t beleive I voted for ur ass in the NOP’s poll……….U BASTARD, u dissapoint me…I’m glad, I ain’t bet no money on u.
thanks Spydaman
for understanding why I caught that comment the worng way at first. but like you said We are not trying to go down that road of discussion.
SAPP sucks he is a sap.
I have a feeling he dosent really wnat to do these hard fights anymore so hhe is just facing injury.
ever since that crocop beat down
I think it might have freaked him out in his head
I think he scared of all these guys now.if not then his body has fallen apart and can’t take any pain anymore and he should just quit
“I have a feeling he dosent really wnat to do these hard fights anymore so hhe is just facing injury.”….I have a feeling he just sux…..shooo!…he just gave me more confidence….tonight during sparring, I’m gonna pick the biggest guy in my class and punish his liver. Pray for me guyz!!! (he told me he was 308lbs and I’m 168lbs, ouch!!).
Interesting thread. I am partially stating the obvious here for those that know, but the answer to one of the above questions “So are you saying that black people are more marketable than other races (in Japan)??? ” is in many instances, yes. Ok, so maybe not “more” — it is still about individualism, but it plays a role.
Hip hop is huge in Japan, and you can also see this in the popularity of fighters such as Sapp, Rampage, and Charles “Crazy Horse” Bennett. I also just traveled in Japan with two of my good friends (they happen to be black) and they got a lot of warm attention from Japanese youth.
The point I am adding is that race has played a part in Sapp’s marketability and I can see why someone made that initial comment.
I don’t think I have to add how much that fight blows, but yeah..
Sorry guys, I can’t hear clearly what Peter is saying there, so I can’t translate it for you :/ Something about last year and Bob Sapp…
And no. I won’t waste time and space on saying how much that fight just sucked. FYI, getting KO’d by a liver shot hurts like nothing else. I’ve been down eating canvas a couple times due to those damn shots. Major pain.
Cheers,
Petteri
Dii Mak….what does Hip Hop and bob Saap have in common??? Because I have been sitting here scratching my head and I haven’t been able to come up with an answer. I don’t want to get into a long argument like I have seen in a past post, but even though I am sure you are right about the popularity of hip hop being huge in Japan, I still don’t see the relation between a lifestyle embraced by the urban youth and with a 350 lbs behemoth ex-football player who has a stomach made outta gelatin? There is nothing Hip Hop about Bob Sapp.
dii Mak
I live in Japan and another good example would be both the ologun brothers, particularly bobby.
They really worked him up because hes black, built and funny.
But…I have to be honest, from what I have seen….a good looking cracker goes much further and for a longer ride then black fellas. It has nothing to do with that guy, its just the Japanese.
Bit late but what he says is:
‘I had only one choice for a fighter: Bob Sapp. Next year I’ll meet a real fighter and beat him to pulp. Osu!’
