The Rants and Ramblings of a Muay Thai Fan

1 Week to Max Finals

September 26th, 2007 · 25 Comments

Well we are officially one week away from MAX. My Thai sources have told me that Masato’s camp has hired non-other then Nuapetch Sakhomsin to be Masato’s sparring partner. I posted a pic last week of Nuapetch and I sparring. Actually I wouldn’t call what I was doing sparring. Anyway…

[youtube le7I8H3QUWs ]

Take this however you want, but my same sources tell me that there has been a rift in relations between the Por. Pramuk camp and K-1. I don’t know the details of their row, but it appears Buakaw has fallen out of favor with K-1 management.

I’ve already predicted how I think things will go down. I just hope I’m wrong.

I found this clip of Masato training. Can anyone say Rocky IV? I swear if Masato loses to Buakaw Por. Pramuk next month, he’ll probably move to a pig farm and start training like they do at Por Pramuk. It’s really interesting to see how each side approached training. I think a great deal of performance gains can be achieved if your train smart in addition to training hard.

Masato’s team looks like there spending a lot of time, effort and money to build his up his cardio. The graph that they were showing was showing Masato’s fitness compare to and ave. person, and a world class footballer. They were also showing that his output increased each successive round against JZ Calvan.

This is exactly what I touched upon in my post few weeks ago. The Masato camp knows he has to busy against Buakaw.

Cut to Por. Pramuk, this place cracks me up. Hard core, old school… are a few of the words that come to mind. Have you guys ever seen pics of this place? They’ve got Masato running in a lab and Buakaw’s camp was like… here’s a new tire for you to drag on your run… have at it kid.

LOL, thats bad news for BPP about the k-1 and Por Pramuk relations. Buakaw will win every single tournament up until he retires from k-1 and that thought scares the Japanese enough that im sure if Masato wins(So sorry BPP :( ) they wont invite Buakaw ever again to K-1. Damn BPP is so hardcore and Masato looks like his training is so relaxed.

this sucks! sorry if i say it like this but it really sucks… why can’t they just let him win if he is better (what we all know) than everyone else???

  • 3 spydaman // Sep 26, 2007 at 8:10 am

I hope that these cats ain’t stupid enough to even think about not inviting Buakaw again. Buakaw has too many fans for them to risk losing an audience, the best they can do is just try to cheat him outta the victory but they can’t just cut him out. They would lose way too much money. I wonder what the fallout is about though, maybe NOP can shed some lights on the matter for us??

man that really scary I hope to buakaw in the K-1 for as long as possible. I guess maybe K1 was tryin to get the buakaw team to throw the fight for some extra cash and maybe the buakaw team said no. this is all speculation. but that is going to make this event tense. because although masato is the face of the max division buakaw is there greatest chapion ever.

why would buakaw want to go back, money doesn’t make you a real champion

  • 6 Tong Po // Sep 26, 2007 at 9:06 am

I think that was an old tire Buakaw was dragging. Masato’s training looks as hardcore as Buakaw’s- just more Rockyish as compared to Masato’s Dragolike training.

  • 7 Ernesto // Sep 26, 2007 at 9:12 am

He would go back not because of the money but because it’s the biggest/most far-reaching stage (at this point) for Muay Thai.

Nate, I understand what you are saying but you gotta put certain things into perspective. Money doesn’t make u a real champion, but being a real champion won’t put food on ur table unless you get paid for it. I’m sure that Buakaw is probably well off right now, but money gets spent so u have to keep making it and a lotta ex Lumpini champions aren’t doin much other than teach at other people’s gym, open their own or do seminars. Buakaw in my opinion is too young and has way too much left in him to not want to go back to K1. He has way too many fans, when you mention a fighter in Muay Thai the first name that used to come up was Ramon Dekkers ( and Van Damme…lol)….now it’s Buakaw ( and Tony Jaa….lol). I also agree with Ernesto….but I’m sure money plays a lil role too. KOMA won’t pay him K1 money, Raja and Lumpini won’t pay him K1 money. My 2 cents.

Former Omnoi stadium champion, ranked top 15 in WBC.

buakaw is K-1 Max’s big money maker… in these parts of europe at least. the few stables i’ve been to in eastern france and in geneva all have framed pictures of buakaw on their walls somewhere or the other. we’ve heard of pramuk’s rift with K-1 too since we’re trying to get him to come to geneva again for a gala. apparently buakaw’s promoters aren’t straightforward to deal with either. but K-1 better know that if masato can beat buakaw fair and square, we’re more than eager to watch that, but if they even try to rob buakaw again me and my club-mates are all cancelling our eurosport subscriptions!

hey nop.. i can’t find your email, is it on your profile somewhere?

MO MONEY, MO PROBLEMS… Bring on the problems…..

  • 14 burnt1tofu // Sep 26, 2007 at 6:12 pm

They both are really fun to watch. I hope the fight turns out interesting. Do you think they work out?

  • 15 Joe // Sep 26, 2007 at 7:34 pm

Sore losers. If Masato looses again, the Japanese will build a Cyborg to beat buakaw. That clip of masato training was funny. Like the intro to the Bionic man TV show.

  • 16 KaoSokTAe // Sep 27, 2007 at 1:58 am

Man, it looks like Masato is upping his training a notch this year. If he wins he deserves it but my Thai pride gonna still rooting for BPP.

  • 17 Buakawas // Sep 27, 2007 at 8:19 pm

The rift between k-1 and por pramuk gym. Can anyone guess what that could be about? How about they want Buakaw to lose to Masato? Trying to buy him out, maybe?

  • 18 nopstar // Sep 27, 2007 at 8:25 pm

Honestly I don’t think it’s anything as sinister as that. In the end I’m pretty sure it boils down to money. Maybe the Por.Pramuk camp wants more loot?

I’m sure K-1 has a say as to where and when Buakaw fights, maybe they want more freedom.

If you give me a week or two, I’m sure I can get a better answer for you.

    buakaw is living to fight
he can´t breave without a challange
he got a lot of money from the fights
and he´s gym too. but they spend a part of money for benefit.
so i think he´s really to young to end he´s career. he is like a soldier
what should they do without war?
in thailand he is a rich man
but he lives like a poor man couse the luxusery make him slow.
and he´s gym doesn´t need a coputer for what they shout use it?
he trained 6 day in a week 8 h per day —–and buakaw make over times
he working really hard- harder then the other and that why he win all the fight.
k1 have to invite him doesn´t matter if he win or lose the fight couse the japanese won´t lose their face (honor)

thx for read hope there is not too much mistake sam-th.

Face it- K1s number one money maker is still Japan. The Japanese. So OF COURSE they want a Japanese Champ.
Also Masato has jumped through friggin hoops for K1. Hew left Ihara Gym at K1s request (thats why they built him a gym, no he didnt pay for that place) and K1 has greased the rails for alot of indorsements etc. Thats cool, I see nothing wrong with it.
But….Can Masato actually beat Buakaw? Doesnt reall matter.
This fight is putting all the asses in the seats. Its flooding the media here in Japan. Its making both fighters money and putting Masatos face all over everything yet AGAIN.
I say Buakaw beats him again…but I give Masato a chance. Last time, he had alot of punishment on him walking INTO the fight and he wasnt quite as good with his hands. It was also Buakaws FIRST big showing in Max and he was so hungry, he also avoided boxing, now he boxes more, Masatos strong point. Who knows….Im looking forward to it.

I just found this video on Youtube.com and would like to share it with BPP fans. Some of you might have seen it already, anyways. BPP is motivating but its that little kid at the end strengthening his jaw that motivates the fuck outta me. Im not used to seeing this kind of hardcore dirty MT training because i live in the US were everything is quite fancy and pussyfied . Its always a big shock for me to see 7-8 year olds going at it without headgear or EVEN! shin guards. Which in turn, pisses!!! me off because these little runts train harder than i do, and there fucking! 8 year olds with the heart of a lion!. Now most folks around my area arent too keen on fighting or combat sports the like, but ME! i wished someone trained me like these little warriors when i was little!. OK, im one of those jealous OLD Muay Thai rookie bastards who started late in the game(started at 21, now 24) and wished it was different.

    to anonymous
i m sure ur opinion what u say about k1 and the money. buakaw is the champ but i think he get not same money as the japanese fighter for the fights(advertisement an so on u know)

i saw masato on the vdo of paulpp (thx) he trained with thai that is very useful for him and his training is hard looking too, but not in the same level.

buakaw have to be careful he need a ko win couse with points i think that the japanese won´t let him win.
